The Word This Week – WHEN YOU SOW YOUR SEED YOUR GENERATION WILL EAT FROM IT

It is appalling to discover that some non-Christians can demonstrate such love to mankind without expecting a return from them. The values, the compassion and the mercy they place on humanity can put Christians to shame sometimes.

And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus asked him what was written in the law, and the man responded: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:25-27, ESV)

Pressing further, the lawyer asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”

Your neighbor?

Jesus told of a man going down from Jerusalem to Jericho. Robbers attacked him, took his possessions and clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead.

A priest came down the road, saw the injured man, and passed by him on the other side. A Levite passing by did the same.

A Samaritan, an unbeliever from a race hated by the Jews, saw the hurt man and showed compassion on him. He poured oil and wine on his wounds, bound them up, then put the man on his donkey. The Samaritan took him to an inn and cared for him.

The next morning, the Samaritan gave two denarii to the innkeeper for the man’s care and promised to repay him on his way back for any other expenses.

Jesus asked the lawyer which of the three men is a neighbor. The lawyer answered the man who showed mercy.

Then Jesus told him, “You go and do likewise.” (Luke 10:37, ESV)

A LOVE THAT GIVES AND DOES NOT EXPECT IN RETURN

YOU GIVE BECAUSE YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED GOD’S LOVE

Loveless giving is not Christian giving – I Cor. 13:3

Christian giving expresses God’s righteousness – II Cor. 9:9,10

I don’t think it is hard to give for the sake of giving if it’s coming from your heart.  The problem comes when many people give expecting something in return. I guess it’s human nature to feel this way. However on the other hand people don’t realise that when  you give the biggest joy comes out  from your gesture of giving! When you think whatever you give must be reciprocated because you feel you’ve done something good and you expect justification, then I am afraid, your very faith in Christ is questionable.

Acts 20:35:  And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.

God loves a person who gives cheerfully, not grudgingly, not giving because you want to cut a deal with Him!  YOU CAN NEVER TRADE WITH GOD. YOU CAN NEVER OUT GIVE HIM, no matter how much you give. REMEMBER HE GAVE ALL HE HAD!

WHATEVER YOU GIVE YOUR ALWAYS GET BACK MORE

When you give whatever little you have to bless others you will always get back more than you give.  Here is a principle you need to pick up.

God likes to do miracles through people.  But you know what? So often we wait for God to do miracles for us but God wants to do miracles through us. How does He do that? He wants you to be a participant of your miracle.

The Bible says is anything too hard for God?

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

THE PRINCIPLE OF SOWING

One seed will remain as it is in your hands indefinitely. But when you give it away and throw it into the ground it will produce much fruit. And inside the fruit there will be more seeds to produce more fruits.

If you keep your seed and eat it by yourself it will just last you for a day. But when you let go and give it away and throw it to the ground and sow it it will last you for a lifetime.

BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU SOW YOUR SEED

If you put you seed in the wrong place the devil will come after your seed. The devil will always go for your seed therefore you need to guard your seed.

Listen! If you take what belongs to God, for example your tithe and try to buy a car or buy something to fulfil your own selfish desire you need to watch out. That is considered stolen money.

Malachi 3:8 says:

“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ In tithes and offerings.”Matt 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

YOUR SEED HAS NO POWER TO PRODUCE A HARVEST UNTIL YOU GIVE IT AWAY

GIVE GOD WHAT LITTLE YOU ALREADY HAVE

One of the most significant miracle of Jesus Christ is the feeding of the 5000. (Mark. 6:30-44).

He told the disciples to go and look if anybody has any food with them. A little boy came up with 5 little loaves and 2 fish. Isn’t it strange out of 5000 people only one boy brought lunch? I am absolutely sure there were many others who would have also brought food out there but unfortunately they were not willing to share but this little boy came forward with his lunch packet.

The question is why did Jesus do this? Why did he want to know how many people could bring their lunch out? Here is a principle. There were others who were holding their seed in their hands. They were not willing to share and give it away. This is the whole problem with humanity today; they hold the seed in their hands and are  not willing to give it away. And they stay stagnant and struggle all through their lives.

Giving is not hard but people just make it hard for themselves. Humans are becoming greedy and selfish. Thus giving is becoming an issue of settling accounts and balances. If we keep giving without asking in return we’ll be doing the noblest deed for ourselves. However, keep giving and blessing others. Don’t worry; somewhere/somehow you bet, one day God will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing which will be a mind -boggling blessing that will bounce back to you!

GOD IS A GIVING GOD!

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life (John.3:16)

Faith by itself if it’s not accompanied by action is dead. But someone will say you have faith I have deeds. Show me your faith without deeds and I will show you my faith by what I do (James 2:15-18)
