Pastor Bob Ignacio from Kingdom Christian Fellowship Malacca, a Philippine national living in Malaysia, recently graced Faith Oasis Fellowship on the 10th of January 2015. He shared on the different levels of faith.
“Baby Christians always stumble because they walk but when you put your hope in the Lord, you will soar,” shared Bob. In this case, there are those with no faith, those with little faith, and those with great faith.
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5)
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)
The Faithless
These people have no faith in the word and they do not believe in Jesus Christ but they have faith in other things that they believe in. We need to be careful with the faithless because they deny and pervert the truth.
A good example of a faithless person is Thomas. Thomas was a disciple of Jesus but when Jesus died he became faithless because he did not believe that Jesus rose from the dead. Only after Thomas saw Christ after His resurrection, he became a man of great faith and an apostle of the church. With no faith, you cannot believe in God. You doubt the word of God and you are always fighting the Word and God’s children.
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. (John 20:27)
Those of Little faith
People of little faith doubt many things; they doubt what they have heard and what they have heard about the word of God, and they are always struggling to believe in God.
“In order have a new life, you must destroy the old life, then you will see things in God’s perspective. But you will never see things in God’s perspective if you stay in the same level that you’re in. You need to know God and to know the Holy Spirit,” he said.
With a weak faith, you can neither experience the power of God nor have an intimacy with Him; you doubt what the Spirit tells you. “You must learn how to be in the realm of the Holy Spirit,” he shared.
“Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:29-31)
They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us. (1 John 2:19)
If you have weak faith or little faith, you are lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, a doubter. “If you want a breakthrough, you must level up every time” shared Bob.
Those of little faith are easily swayed from the truth as trials and temptations overcome them. Do not go on a roller coaster ride of asking God for forgiveness but instead repent once and for all, and become a changed person by renewing and increasing your level of faith in Christ.
Those with Great Faith
A person who is of great faith will stand firmly in complete confidence of God and will not be swayed from the truth. He is one who is confident about the Word of God and His teachings.
To be of great faith, we need to be faithful from deep down our hearts in what we say and do. Miracles and signs occur when people have great faith; you will not receive healing due to someone praying for you but by your faith. Jesus healed and performed miracles, He forgave sins and He raised the dead, and those who received it are the ones who had great faith in Him.
Great faith or being faithful has no limit. As we continue to keep growing in great faith the Holy Spirit will continue to impart on us the gifts of the Holy Spirit. These gifts are given according to faith but if you are of great faith you have one or several gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12)
My eyes will be on the faithful in the land that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me. (Psalms 101:6)
