On March 13, I visited The Full Gospel Businessmen (FGB) Fellowship of Subang Jaya USJ 1 Chapter at Summit led by Roberto Galeotti. And on this day, HT Long was the guest speaker who led a heart-felt worship a cappella-style. About 45 people streamed steadily into the cozy music studio, all gathered to listen to our very own Malaysia’s Elvis Presley.
HT Long was the first ‘Elvis’ in Malaysia to be recognized by the Graceland Elvis Presley Enterprise in Memphis, USA. He has performed worldwide including Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, United Kingdom and United States. Elvis was a demi-god of some kind to him before he knew Jesus. So, when Elvis died, he was forced to ask the question, “How can my god, Elvis Presley die?”
“I always thought that Elvis was king until I met the real King of kings. Thank God, I now know that I have one true KING in my heart who's risen from the dead and is alive forever more and that is Jesus!” said HT.
How did he got saved? An atheist and the oldest child amongst his six siblings, he was angry with a pastor who influenced his youngest brother to go to Bible School. With an impression that the career has neither meaning nor future, he was concerned of his youngest brother's decision.
But before he was able to confront the pastor, the whole family accepted the gospel upon sharing by his youngest brother. In turn, all of them ‘ganged up on him’ and prayed for him to accept Christ! So, he encountered God for the first time at a Reinhard Bonke Gospel rally at Stadium Merdeka in 1989. And later, he was even baptized by that same pastor who influenced his youngest brother!
A hilarious man, HT recalled singing the famous Elvis song “A Fool Such as I." But after he encountered God, he realized that he was actually that fool! For the Bible says that , 'fools say to themselves, there is no God' (Psalm 53:1a). Soon, he humbled himself like the Elvis’ song of ‘Who am I?’, which he sang to bless the attendees that afternoon.

Many music fans spanning across all ages still appreciate the good old Rock and Roll music of the 50's & 60's . And God has used him tremendously in blessing many with his voice.
He also shared how he recently worked with a few churches to hold concerts in Hong Kong and one at Tsing Sui Wan for the poor families. In one of his three concerts in the open-air Southern Stadium, rain began to fall and scattered all the audiences to find shelter. Standing on-stage, he held an umbrella while beckoning audiences who have umbrellas to come down from their sheltered seats to watch the performance. Many came forward holding their umbrellas, under what he called as ‘the shower of blessing.’ Finally, the worship girls and he finally threw off their umbrellas and sang, one of the songs was ‘Singing in the Rain.’
Come 6th and 7th of April, HT Long will be performing three Evangelistic Concerts in Bangkok to help raise funds for the very poor families and children there.
And in 24th of May, he will also be holding an evangelical "Elvis" Concert in Jaya One, Petaling Jaya!
So if you’re a fan or knows anyone who love the Elvis music, come and bring a friend to this coming concert! For the enjoyment of the people from the rock and roll golden era, He will also be singing some evergreen songs of Cliff Richard, Bee Gees and The Beatles… all in Elvis style.
