Beautiful Gate’s 20th Anniversary

28 June 2013 by James Hoh CM –

Beautiful Gate has been providing various services to people with disabilities since 1993. Its first centre was established in 1995 in Petaling Jaya. This centre provided accommodation, food, skill training and other services to people with physical disabilities to enable them to live independently in the community.

After 20 years of hard work and financial support from generous individuals and companies, Pastor Sia Siew Chin who is the Executive Director, the Board and co-workers have marked several mile-stones. To date, they have seven other centres located in various towns: Kepong (1996), Kampar (1999), Seremban (2001), Melaka (2006), Klang (2006), Sitiawan / Manjung (2009), and Puchong (2013). All the centres are managed and run by trained disabled persons.

In order to be more effective in to meet more needs in the community, they are urgently in need of a building which will be their headquarters. It is to:

a. Help disabled leaders to play a more effective role,

b. Train more leaders among the disabled,

c. Be relevant and significant with the changes in our society.

The Beautiful Gate Headquarters & Disabled Leaders’ Training Centre project will cost about RM4 Million. It is to convert the present two old bungalows of the Petaling Jaya Centre into two blocks of three-storey buildings. The new Headquarter will be equipped with facilities and will be more conducive environment to meet future needs.

Apart from providing Leadership Trainings, this project will also be very beneficial to disabled trainees and children who are now residing in our PJ Centre.

Currently, Beautiful Gate is facing an acute shortage of space and facilities to cater for its client’s physiotherapy workouts, fellowship gatherings, teaching classes, counselling sessions, self-study and meetings.
