Whenever the call would come into our lives, the Lord demands obedience and commitment to pursue after Him. When God called Andrew Chelliah into the prophetic ministry, he has to make a choice of whether to go to Law school and become a successful lawyer someday or to follow hard after God and seek His Kingdom and righteousness first in his life. The struggle was not an easy one as he discovers that it is a life of many challenges but the Lord will not forsake His anointed ones. In his prophetic ministry, he has seen the powers and miracles working mightily and that many lives were transformed by the Gospel.
Born in 1977, he was raised in a traditional Anglican family. His dad was a government servant and mum was an English primary school teacher. Andrew’s early education till Form 5 was in Anglo Chinese School (ACS), Klang. They lived in the government quarters located near ACS school. And he is passionate about football and badminton in his schooling days.
The first 18 years of his life till 1995 was lived as a “nominal” Christian. He completed his Form Five in ACS Klang. He then proceeded with “A” levels in Sunway College but did not complete his studies due to his lifestyle. However at the age of 18 to 20, the Lord began to work in his life. At this age of curiosity and rebellion, he did many unpleasant things in his life like carefree partying, clubbing, drinking and the use of foul language. He knew he was leading a “back-slidden” Christian life. And as he was partying and enjoying his youthful passion and interests, he recalled that the Lord spoke to him that at the age of 20, the Lord will “touch” his life.
True to His word, in 1997 while he was enjoying his New Year eve celebration in Hard Rock Café in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, he remembered clearly that the song by the band Metallica “Enter the Sandman” was sung and the Lord opened his eyes to see the darkness and wickedness all around. “What are you doing here”, God asked him. The words came forth so strong in his inner man that he just went outside Hard Rock café and sat by the slab and cried alone. His “inner man” was stirred up that evening and he felt for the first time that this was the “voice of God”.
The final call came just after his 20th birthday. For two months, he shuts himself away from others and went into deep soul searching on the reality of life, the existence of God and many issues and questions about life and God. One day, as he was seeking and praying in his room, he felt the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ and in that moment, somehow miraculous, there was a Bible beside him. The Lord showed him Matthew 11:28-29, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” He knelt down and prayed and has asked the Lord to forgive him. In that encounter, he felt the “realness” of the Lord and the life of Andrew was never the same again.
Upon his “born-again” experience, he attended the “Jesus Loves Subang Jaya” church under Pastor Sheila Raj. He was subsequently baptised in the Holy Spirit while attending the church there.
At the age of 24, Andrew was at an important “crossroad’ of his life. He has to decide either to go to Law school or to go into full-time Christian ministry. The faithful Lord spoke to him to serve Him full-time. He obeyed the call, stopped Law school and do part-time English tutorial to survive financially. He continued to serve and helped out in various ministries as the Lord leads.
The defining moment came in January 2005 when he was hospitalised in the General Hospital, Klang. His whole body was immobilised from waist downwards and cannot stand and walk at all. Doctors were unable to diagnose his medical condition. On the third day in hospital, he saw a “white figure of a man” approaching him. With “blurry eyes” then he cried out aloud asking the Lord Jesus Christ to “touch” him and heal him. And he heard the Lord’s commanding voice saying “You will walk again”. In the morning, he just put his feet down and started walking. The doctors, nurses and his family members present were all amazed at his recovery. He has been walking ever since. Hallelujah!
The prophetic calling started to move in his life. In June 2005, the Lord opened the doors for him to meet Prophet Daniel Anthony who was a missionary to Europe. It was at a restaurant dinner with the prophet in Port Klang that his life will be changed forever. He recalled that at the dinner get-together, Daniel Anthony called another anointed man in Bukit Mertajam (BM), Penang. His name was Prophet Michael Anthony of Christian Life Centre (CLC) in BM. The phone call was passed over to him and a powerful and supernatural prayer was said over the phone to him. As Michael Anthony prayed, “fire came down and literally burned him.” The fire was like the “burning bush” encounter of Moses. Andrew said, “I touch my head immediately after the prayer to see whether my hair was burned.” Praise the Lord that the hair and body was not physically burned but the “inner man” got burned up.
The quest for the supernatural was activated in his life. He left Klang for Bukit Mertajam to be with Michael Anthony and to learn and follow closely after a senior prophet from God. It was here in Christian Life Centre (CLC) in Bukit Mertajam that his prophetic ministry and anointing began to be manifested and honed for ministry and for His glory. In one of the private prayer meetings, Michael Anthony prayed and confirmed his appointment into the Prophet’s office. He felt “a real supernatural mantle coming down from heaven and wrapping around him”. In that instant, the small walking stick he used because of an earlier accident was also thrown away and he was walking without any walking stick ever. Michael Anthony has confirmed his prophetic calling publicly numerous times.
He stayed on with the ministry in Bukit Mertajam and later in 2009, he assisted the pastor to start a Tamil outreach church in Kulim, Kedah.
And in September 2010, he came back and started a new church called Global Evangelism Christian Fellowship (GECF) in SS15 Subang Jaya. Home is where the heart is. It all began in Klang and the training of a prophet took him to Bukit Mertajam and Kulim for a season. He was assigned there by the Almighty God to learn from a senior prophet just like “Elisha and Elijah” and to get “the double-portion” of the anointing for the prophetic ministry that the Lord has called him to be.
When asked about the pains and struggles along the way, Andrew Chelliah says that, “To be a prophet, you have to go through the test of fire. My own brother, in my early Christian walk, was my biggest persecutor because I forego a promising law degree and was without money in my pocket. When he knows that I am on the streets passing out Gospel tracts and doing church ministries, I will get two hours of “lecturing and scolding” when I get home. Today, he is my biggest supporter, having seen the miracles and transformed lives in the ministry that God has given me.”
Having prayed and seen “just too many” miracles to mention, he confidently would say that “Jesus Christ is the healer, the deliverer and the answer to all our human questions. Go back to the Bible Jesus who will touch and transform your lives.” Amen!
