Confident of Better Things – Part 1

28 April 2013 by Natasha Kim CM –

Ever since Calvary Convention Centre’s (CCC) first ever opening during Easter, they’ve held several services where many come to be spiritually enriched. It was a bright Sunday morning when I attended their only service during the day, at 9 a.m. Their ushers smilingly welcomed everyone in and once everyone was seated, praise and worship finally began.

He dwells in the praises of His people (Psalms 22:3)

Many will be delighted to know that the spacious auditorium of the CCC is also catered to Bahasa Malaysia and Cantonese speaking visitors during their English service, where the whole service will be translated at the convenience of your seats. Many are welcome! Now everyone can enjoy service together!

Senior Pastor Prince Guneratnam reading the testimonies of people

Senior Pastor, Tan Sri (Dr.) Prince Guneratnam was the preacher for the day. Right before he began the Word he shared a few testimonies, letters that were sent in from people themselves. They were touching letters from people whose lives were changed as they continued to put their trust in God. “People don’t understand how a Church can do things like we do and the only reason is because we serve a great big wonderful God, a God that is certainly faithful in everything that he does” he shared.

Abiding in Christ

He then went on to encourage everyone that the messages that he brings are not only pastoral but also a prophetic Word, one that speaks into lives and gives a sense of hope, correction or the truth of the Word.

Many often feel that the Word speaks directly to them and wonder if it was a fluke. It isn’t. I have personally visited various Churches where the Word spoke directly to me. If it speaks directly to you, it probably isn’t by chance.

John 15:5 says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” With that he said, “The vine is capable to provide and meet all of your needs, and all you have to do is to be a very faithful branch.”

“To abide in Him is to fear God. The fear of God is not negative. It is healthy, respectful and it is loyalty to the Lord” he said. People are obedient because they respect God and the things of God.

The witness of having faith in the Word is your action. He said, “To abide in Christ to mix faith and the Word.” From there you will begin to see that God begin to work miracles and that He does what He says He will do.

Jesus is Enough

He then went on to recite and explain the scripture according to Hebrews 6: 9-12.

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

  • “Beloved”, both you and I are being addressed here. “You are related because of Jesus Christ. It doesn’t matter what colour of skin, ethnic background or what language you speak, when you come into the Kingdom of God and when you put your faith in Him we become brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus” said Prince. “We are persuaded to better things” is more than just saying our sins are forgiven. He shared that, “There is more to salvation!”

10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

  • Stay faithful for He has not forgotten you though there are many that follow Him. You are special in God’s eyes and He is not unjust to forget you for He has unconditional love for each and every one of us. Above all He is faithful to those who are faithful to Him!

11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end 12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

  • “Don’t stop, do not become sluggish!” said Prince. Just because God “seems” to take His time do not think God is too late to help you. In fact, God is always on time shared Prince. Trust in Him! For He has something better for each and every one of us. He shared that, “His ways are higher and better than ours”. We must all remember to not go backwards but imitate those in the Bible and find those who are good examples to follow.

Abide

To have confidence of better things we need to have faith and patience and hope. In order to see better things in your walk with God or if you want to see His power you need to have those qualities in you.
