The death of Christ gives Christians back our complete contact with GOD. The cost of sin has been paid off. The power to sin cannot have a hold on us. This access is GOD’s gift to us. We did not earn it. We did not deserve it. We now have instant access to GOD. GOD accepts us on the basis of Christ our Introducer. And Christ in heaven readily asks GOD on our behalf whatever we request in His name. Christ is not only the Author, but also the Finisher/Completer of our faith (Heb 12:2). The Holy Spirit is in us and helps us pray (Rom 8:28). The Holy Spirit completes the job of cleaning us up for admission into heaven. The Holy Spirit is our Resident Boss, according to Watchman Nee. Christ has not left us to work things out on our own. GOD, never ever does a half-job.
The Bible says that we are in Christ and that Christ has become unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption (1 Cor 1:30). Scripture does not say that Christ just gives us those qualities. It says that Christ has BECOME our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. There is a great difference between the two statements. That is also the new person we have turned into, is all about (2 Corinthians 5:17). If we do not live in Christ, we are nothing but a structure composed of dust from the ground that we walk on. It is only in Christ that we are preserved and made completely perfect (Col 2:10; Jude 1).
In prayer, we take hold of the mind of GOD. Prayer is being in one mind with GOD. As Christians, we are transformed with a renewed mind in Christ (Rom 12:2); almost an exchanged mind. That mind is cleansed by the blood of Christ and directed in power by the Holy Spirit. Therefore we have access to GOD because of this.
Being born again is all about dying to our self, and destroying our own stubborn, selfish will. It means being born again to the will of GOD. The will of GOD is that all men be saved. All our thoughts must be in this one direction no matter what we think or do.
The world seems to suggest that the will of GOD is to endorse mankind’s glory. That is what sin is: rebellion against the will of GOD. And the work of the Holy Spirit is to ensure that we do not ignore the will of GOD.
The will of GOD is our
Access through prayer appears (appears, only) difficult. This is not because GOD is difficult. This is, instead, due to one or more of the following three factors:
Firstly, satan attempts (attempts only, mind you) to defeat our effort to pray;
Secondly, the pull of our old nature, makes us sleep, wears us out mentally, emotionally, tires us or makes us feel defeated when we are about to pray or whilst we are praying;
Thirdly, the force of the world’s lifestyle and habits may occupy us so much that we just have no time even for thinking about praying.
GOD is available to us 24 hours a day, seven days a week: Christ takes no vacations; neither does satan. And the Spirit of GOD is, our Counsellor, Helper and Advocate, moment by moment, to direct us how to pray.
