Luke 1:16–17
He will turn many of the people of Israel back to the Lord their God.
He will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah,
to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children
and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—
to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Malachi 4:6
He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children,
and the hearts of the children to their fathers,
or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy;
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
In a world of light and shadow, there are films made not just for entertainment but for the healing of the soul. A Moth’s Song is one such moving work.
Directed by PastorYee Weng Kim, and co-produced by Mega Subang Chinese Methodist Church and Yee Creative Production, this Chinese gospel film (with English captions) began taking shape as early as 2018.
The script was written in 2019, and filming first began in 2023 – but had to stop due to a lack of funds.
Only in 2025, through God’s grace and the team’s steadfast perseverance, was filming finally completed.
Six years of waiting, tears, and prayers have been woven into a poetic offering — a song of life, a song for the Heavenly Father, and a song for fathers on earth.

A Story Drawn from Real Life
The film is an adaptation of the true and deeply personal relationship between the director, Yee Weng Kim, and his father.
It is a story of misunderstanding, conflict, and reconciliation – of a young man chasing his dreams, yet losing himself somewhat in the trials of his father’s love; and of a father who, in silence, hid for years a story no one ever knew.
Years later, a letter became the turning point that transformed their relationship and led the director to rediscover the true meaning of “love.”
It turned out that the father’s heart was far deeper and more complex than he had imagined.
This personal journey became the inspiration for A Moth’s Song –
a story about father-daughter relationships, about dreams and grace. The film’s ending holds an unexpected secret, making the characters’ experiences even more memorable.

The story beautifully portrays a love that bridges generations—
a love that reconciles, heals, and renews.
Six Years of Refinement – A Spiritual Family’s Miracle
The making of A Moth’s Song was far from easy.
Conceived in 2018. Written in 2019. Funds raised in 2022. Filming began in 2023.
Yet after just three days, production was forced to stop.
The director, devastated, fell into two years of discouragement.
He admits that during that time, he almost lost faith – but God never gave up. In early 2025, Rev. Elson Chew of Mega Subang Chinese Methodist Church made a phone call – and that call marked the beginning of a miracle.
Through the pastor’s trust and the church’s support, the film was “reborn.”
Actors and crew gathered once more from across the country, like moths drawn toward the light—risking everything to follow it.
“God is the real scriptwriter of this film,” Yee said. “I’m merely recording the diary He wrote.”
The Actors’ Journey: From Screen to Testimony
Veteran actor Jordan Voon plays a key role in the film. Reflecting on the journey, he wrote:
“After more than 30 years in the industry and countless commercial films, I’ve never experienced an atmosphere like this. Every day on set, love and grace filled the air. The team felt like one big family – shooting scene after scene amid laughter and prayer. During those days, we built deep and genuine bonds, completing this unforgettable journey in warmth and joy. When filming had to stop after three days, everyone was heartbroken. No one knew if the project would ever restart.
“When A Moth’s Song was finally revived,” he said, “returning to those same locations felt like time itself had been rewritten by grace. We owe deep gratitude to Rev Chow, whose vision and timing allowed the film to bloom once again in God’s perfect time.”
Director Yee recalled, “After the production was suspended, I was crushed. Jordan encouraged me to hold on and prayed with me – that one day, the film would be completed. And indeed, God heard our prayers.”
Jordan added, “You can see in the director’s eyes that unwavering faith and resilience. Because of his persistence, this gospel film received a second ‘life’ – awakened again by God.”
The Women Behind the Story
Lead actress Elaine Ng (黄薏玲) joined the project in 2022 as both actress and co-producer. She stood by the director from setback to rebirth – discussing scripts, recruiting cast members, and helping raise funds. When the first shoot failed, both she and Yee were deeply hurt, but through prayer and faith, they encouraged each other to keep trusting in God’s plan.
By 2025, with the support of Rev Chow and the church, filming resumed. Elaine brought her character “Mei Qi” to life – a portrayal so real, as if it mirrored her own healing with her father. “Mei Qi” became more than a role; she became the reflection of everyone’s inner child.
Actress Pei Pei, who had worked with the director on previous gospel projects since 2019, traveled all the way from East Malaysia to rejoin the cast. For three years, she remained steadfast – praying and believing alongside the team. On set, she formed a deep bond with Elaine and Destiny, her co-stars. Their on-screen sisterhood mirrored their off-screen friendship – a fellowship of prayer and love.
“Their love went beyond acting,” said the director. “Every hug, every tear was real. On the night we wrapped filming, everyone cried tears of gratitude.”

Grace Along the Journey: Reborn in Faith
At the A Moth’s Song launch event, the director and cast shared their hearts – their challenges, their prayers, their faith.
It wasn’t just a movie premiere; it was a spiritual encounter.
Every story was a chapter written by God. Every frame reflected His grace.
Through the filming process, every actor’s life was touched.
They didn’t just play roles; they experienced healing and growth.
Every prayer, every reshoot, became a testimony of faith.
Even when the cameras stopped rolling, their lives continued to write the next verse of A Moth’s Song – a song of love and restored relationships.
Toward the Light
A Moth’s Song is not a grand production but it is a sincere testimony.
It’s not about perfection but about grace.
It reminds us that sometimes, we are all like moths – drawn not to the flame, but to the light. And that light is the healing love from Heaven.

Perhaps when you see that moth flying toward the light, you’ll remember – that light was never far away.
