Malaysian Worship Ministry Wondersigns Releases New Single about the Joy of Homecoming with Christ

The journey of life as a Christian is not just a theological aspect. It’s sometimes messy, but often we find Christ helps us to carry our painful moments, and there is much joy and healing.

Malaysian worship ministry Wondersigns recently released its newest single, capturing the joy of a homecoming with God. Wondersigns is relatively young but they have captured much attention from local Christian worshippers and music followers. The ministry was formed in early 2020 as a worship team in Every Nation Petaling Jaya that later branched out to preach the gospel with music and through their own compositions.

Wondersigns is a relatively young worship ministry but they have captured much attention from local Christian worshippers and music followers.

Basing its name on Acts 2:22 (NIV) “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.”, Wondersigns’s goal is to see that their songs being able to create an experience about God’s love, miracles, and purpose for their listeners.

At the same time, the hope is to encourage local Malaysian Christian songwriters to create a new sound of worship that is relevant to our local culture in Malaysia, and more broadly, in South East Asia, for a start.

Their latest single, Rend My Heart, is based on the prophetic passage in Joel 2:12-14:

Rend Your Heart
12 “Even now,” declares the Lord,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting and weeping and mourning.”
13 Rend your heart
and not your garments.
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love,
and he relents from sending calamity.
14 Who knows? He may turn and relent
and leave behind a blessing—
grain offerings and drink offerings
for the Lord your God.

Songwriter Keith Piong shares about the new song, ‘This song was written back in early 2021 during my fast and prayer session. I know most of the time when we want to come back to God, we usually come crying and weeping, basically all the emo stuff. But to me, I wanna bring to our listeners that there’s actually joy too when we come back to God, hence the chorus lyric of the song.’

In addition, Keith’s personal prayer is that the listeners will not just be able to encounter God, but also come to know that there is joy at the end of the day when we decide to trust Him and come back to Him.

The song is available through Spotify and YouTube.

With everything I rend my heart

I wake up every morning
Just to see Your glory
Lord your grace and mercy
