For Prison Fellowship Malaysia (PFM) staff of 11 years, Muring Sigar, 52, her decision to be among the blessed of the Heavenly Father, serving the Lord Jesus among the “least of these My brethren” was quickly rewarding.
‘I first joined the ministry on 4 December 2005 to replace a brother who resigned to serve full-time in a local church. My first month was a crying ministry. I saw how much love was shown to ex-prisoners and their families by Bro. Prem Kumar.’
‘He hugged the families who came for ‘Angel Tree Program’ at the PFM Centre, the brothers who came asking for food, he immediately brought for them, while another brother, who just came out of prison and needed lodging, he let him stay at the Centre…they are not even his own family. Such acts of love are lacking in church.’
‘When I first joined I was terrified by ex-prisoners, strongly refusing to serve them because they might harm me but Bro. Prem simply told me that in 30 years in the ministry, he has never been assaulted by any of the reformed brothers.
‘The Lord told me, “I chose you and appoint you, to go and bear fruit”. Later, I too began to experience such love for them as my own family. The Lord gave me His own love for them.
‘I find this is a loving and caring ministry. My dream came through. Not only can I minister to these brothers and their families, I too have time for my own family,’ said Muring, a Lun Bawang Kelabit from Sarawak, with depth of heart. She had served in a church 18 years.
The mother of 3 children is married to Juanis Linggu, a local Dusun, who gives regular talks in prison and family visits.
In His own words, (Matthew 25 : 31-46) Jesus warned that at His soon return to earth as the glorious King, all nations will be gathered before Him on His throne of glory, separated as either blessed or cursed, sheep or goats, because they had loved or despised the hungry, thirsty, stranger, naked, sick and prisoners.
“And the King shall answer and say to them, Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of these My brethren, you have done it to Me.”
“Then shall the King say to them on His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
For I was hungry, and you gave Me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, I was a stranger, and you took Me in.
Naked, and you clothed Me, I was sick, and you visited Me. I was in prison, and you came to Me.
Then shall the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungry, and fed You? Or thirsty, and gave You drink?
When did we see You a stranger and took You in? Or naked, and clothed You?
Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and came to You?
But, to those on His left, He will say:
“Depart from Me you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels”.
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life”.
