On 2nd of May, Pastor Callie Liew from Worldwide Transformation Ltd came to the First Borneo Revival Convention in Sandakan, to share a word from God with the attendees, as well as every believer in Borneo.
Sandakan has the destiny to set the whole Borneo on fire for Jesus Christ!
In a vision, she saw many young people stooping low to the ground, ready to charge forward for Jesus. Yet, they were unable to run because their foot was tied to a weight – called fear. They were immobilized by the fear of the unknown and fear of failure.
But the LORD has not left His children alone. God directed her to Psalm 27, to break the fear in them. She prayed them to break this fear in the people of Sandakan, as they represent the Body of Christ in Sandakan, Sabah, Borneo and Malaysia.
The first step to break fear is to put our confidence in God (Psalm 27:1-3).
The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked advance against me
to devour me,
it is my enemies and my foes
who will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident.
(Psalms 27:1-3)
The Lord says to us, “Be confident of yourself”, because it is not what you can do, but what God can do through you when you avail yourself to Him (Zechariah 4:6). Not by might or power, but only by the Spirit of God.
Know that God also is the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Because He is the one who placed us at the starting line of our destiny, He will also see us to the finishing line as well (Philippians 1:6).
Therefore, let God renew our carnal mind into the mind of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:23; Romans 12:2). ‘Let us strip off every weight (of fear) that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us, and run with endurance the race God has set before us’ (Hebrews 12:1b-c). Our mind needs to be freed from all lies, deceptions, and control by the enemy.
The second step to break fear is to fix our eyes on God (Psalm 27:4-6).
One thing I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
Then my head will be exalted
above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make music to the Lord.
(Psalm 27:4-6)
Like David, we need to have an overwhelming desire to be with God, all the days of our life.
David longed to ‘gaze on the beauty of the Lord’. We also need to fix our eyes on God, and remember the good things He had done for us, especially during times of difficulties and challenges. Sing praises to Him! It is through worship and the beating of the drums (which burst our enemies’ bonds with every beat), that cause revival to happen.
When our eyes are fixed on God, what will happen? God will protect us and ‘set us high upon a rock’ (Psalm 27:5). We will have no fear over our enemies. God will exalt us above them. Hallelujah!
The third step to break fear is to repent from our wicked ways (Psalm 27:7-12).
Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Do not hide your face from me,
do not turn your servant away in anger;
you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
God my Savior.
Though my father and mother forsake me,
the Lord will receive me.
Teach me your way, Lord;
lead me in a straight path
because of my oppressors.
Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
for false witnesses rise up against me,
spouting malicious accusations.
I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
(Psalm 27:7-14)
David came to God with a humble heart to seek His face (Psalm 27:8). He turned from his wicked ways to God’s teachings. (2 Chronicles 7:14). Because he did what he did, he was confident to ‘wait for the Lord’ (Psalm 27:14). That is why David was called ‘a man after God’s heart’; ‘he did everything God wanted him to’ (Acts 13:22).
God says to us, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). God is not pleased when our heart is divided between the world and Him. In the book of Judges, a Levite priest served a house of idols for money. This is a warning to the church especially leaders. God wants our whole heart.
Hence, the people of Sandakan and Borneo must intercede for their land. Only God can pull down the idolatry for money, unrighteousness and injustice from this land. God is looking for wholehearted worshipers! ‘For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him’ (2 Chronicles 16:9).
Pastor Callie Liew prayed that the Spirit of Isaachar will come upon every believer in Sandakan and Borneo (Genesis 49:14).
May the Spirit of the LORD anoint the people of Sandakan and Borneo to be willing to bend their shoulder to this burden and submit to labor. May their eyes be opened to see how good their resting place is and how pleasant is their land. Let us throw away then every weight and every sin from us, and run this race set before us. Together, we run wholeheartedly in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
And so, ‘the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea’ (Habakkuk 2:14).
Hence, people of God in Sandakan and Borneo, fulfill this destiny that the LORD has called you to!
On a personal note, revival only happens when every tribe and tongue of this nation know Malaysia. ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life’ (John 3:16). The world involves all people in Malaysia. So, revival comes when God’s love touches every soul.
Jesus says, “Come follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).
“Here I am. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8).
