Joshua 8:18 TLB
Point your spear towards Ai, for I will give you the city.
God said to Joshua, point your spear towards Ai, for I will give you the city (Joshua 8:18). It’s amazing how bold you become when your back is covered. When God is backing you “No weapon forged against you will prevail “(Isaiah 54:17).
BAD REPORT
When MOSES sent 12 spies to explore the land of Canaan God had given them, ten spies returned from the Promised Land with a bad report. They told MOSES it’s impossible to conquer the land. They said it is true that the land is rich and flowing with milk and honey. But it’s a land with huge Giants and well fortified. We are just like grasshoppers before them. That’s because they saw the challenge with their own eyes rather than seeing it through the eyes of God. But Joshua and Caleb saw it differently; they said if God is with them and if God had said it He will do it. They had faith to believe in God. They knew they could make it if God was backing them (Numbers 13:1-13).
When David fought Goliath, David was empowered by the Spirit of God.
Zec 4:6
“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Everybody knew the flesh is no match for Goliath. Can you imagine David was a only a shepherd boy, but he became a giant killer. David had experienced the power of God in his past life. He knew who his God was in his life.
Some of you have won great victories in the past and you have been boasting on God’s goodness towards you. But unfortunately something has happened to you along the way and you never got yourself back on your foot into God’s faithfulness. Today, you stand on the brink of defeat. Why?
David worked on his past experience. He believed that the God who helped him to fight the Lion and the Bear in the past would not let him down this time. That is what trust is! That is what faith is! David knew for sure that victory is his. He was not fearful of the armor or size of Goliath.
1 Samuel 17:45 ASV
“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin: but I come to thee in the name of Jehovah of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.”
David had faith from the beginning of this giant undertaking. He knew God would back him up in his battles.
King Jehoshaphat was facing a huge enemy coming to invade his nation. He was fearful and helpless initially. Nevertheless he did not compromise he made the necessary changes and that pleased God to hear his prayers despite his past mistakes. God was willing to hear his prayers.
He began to declare a fast over his nation. He called the assembly of everybody to come and stand together and pray. He called on God and reminded Him of his faithfulness and said “Is it not true Lord that you rule and heaven has the final say?
PLEASE UNDERSTAND: YOUR BATTLE BELONGS TO GOD
2 Chronicles 20:15
This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army that is coming against you. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.
Psa 91:14 NIV
“Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name”.
GOD REQUIRES US TO WALK IN HIS WAYS TO COME UNDER HIS COVERING
Covering speaks of our protection from many dangers such as those we go through in this journey of life. God provided these covering to protect his people.
However, you can’t live any way you want to or do anything you feel like doing and expect God to pour out His favour and support on you. It is a principle of God both in the Old Testament and the New Testament. His principle is the same under the Law and under Grace. And this is the economics of God that has never changed until today!
We have seen throughout the Bible whenever people delighted and strictly followed God’s principles laid down in His word His presence was there to sustain them. God was always faithful to the one who walked up rightly before Him.
If you want to see the power of God’s blessing in your life you need to first of all, live and move in alignment with God’s word. God wants to enrich your life but you need to make a difference in the way you live. Most of the heroes in the Bible had their lives transformed and changed when they experienced an encounter with God. Their lives were never the same anymore after the encounter. Abraham and Paul were typical examples in the Bible. Therefore our lives should be one that would grow from the encounter that we experienced and the faithfulness that we saw in the way God dealt with us in the past.
Put God first in your life (Mat. 6:33). Priorities in your life should be aligned to God’s standards! God’s measures! Do not dwell, neither accommodate thoughts, ideas or solutions the world offers that are not in line with God’s word. It is very dangerous to say I am walking with the Lord and touch things that defile Him. You will be literally trampling on the blood of Jesus if you do that. Let me put it to you in another way.
THE DEVIL WILL FIND YOU WHEN HE SEES FLAWS IN YOU.
1 Timothy4:8: Godly living is profitable. Godliness, is profitable in every single area of your life, no matter what it is! Remember, God told Abraham, if you will obey me, I will empower you to prosper. It is God’s will to prosper and bless your well-being as you live in this world.
Philippians 419
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
God clearly promises, when we seek Him and put Him first in our lives, He promises to take care of all our needs beyond what we can ever comprehend (Matt. 6:33). In short, He is saying, “You are not in the driver’s seat! I am. I am in control of your needs! Why are you unduly worried? That area belongs to me! And I know how to provide for you. I know how to protect you. I know how to fight the battles in your life”.
ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE YOUR BEST TO HIM?
But you know what? God wants your best seed in order for Him to start working in your life. So often we are mistaken about God and the first thing that comes to our mind is that ‘God is after our money’. We forget that He simply wants to teach us the principle of sowing and reaping. He wants every area of your life to be priotized for Him. So that all will go well with you and your concerns. But so often we give Him the least and expect to get the best. And all that we do for the rest of the time is to keep complaining that God is not working for you. Malachi 3:10 (DRA).
NO MAN IS EVER A LOSER WHEN HE PUTS GOD FIRST IN HIS LIFE
We need to be aware in every move and in every situation; is God behind us? Are we covered by His grace?
When satan says ‘Jesus I know and Paul I know but who are you?’ (Acts 19:15), you better be sure who you are in CHRIST and who CHRIST is in you.
Jesus said
“Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven”(Mt.18:18).
Mt.6:10
There must be agreement between both realms. Jesus taught his disciples to pray “your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
As labourers together with God we need to fight only when He fights. When Jesus has you covered, no demon in hell will ever be able to touch you!!
