Finding Soul Satisfaction

23 August 2014 by Donna Uning CM –

“I often wonder how people lead their lives without God,” said Ps Teresa Tay from Perth, Australia in her message about Finding Soul Satisfaction. She was speaking at the 3rd International Women’s Conference at the Trinity Methodist Church, Kuching.

“Not hearing His voice is not an option but a necessity; it is a lifestyle,” she said. This is a season to come up higher, hear God and be near God. “God knows we face many challenges to overcome, we need to rest in Him,” she added.

“We are created for relationship with God; in His image and His love,” she continued, telling that she believed “God misses us if we don’t talk to Him.” Connect with Him heart to heart. “He knows in His presence we have peace, joy, and restoration.”

Psalm 63: 5-7,

“I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.”

“What a blessed assurance and proclamation!” she called. David at this moment was running for his life, it was a tough time. “But he chose to cast his eyes on the Lord, his salvation and fortress,” she said. He knows his soul shall be fed with the riches of food; to find satisfaction is to just worship Him.

“No matter what we see, we worship not just by singing, but by bowing down, reverencing Him and acknowledging Him as our Savior,” she said. The answer to our pragmatic circumstance is by reminding ourselves that God is bigger than our mountains. Meditate on God, abandon ourselves to Him.

“In the midst of trial, what do we focus on? The enemy wants us to focus on the circumstances so we have no peace and joy that God has promised,” she continued.

Isaiah 26:3,

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

“When God begins to form and shape our minds, we begin to think the thoughts of God and see with His eyes,” she said. Jesus knows God as the Father. When He prays, He always addresses God as Father. “Our Father is the ultimate name of God and that’s the name Jesus wanted His disciples to remember,” she added.

Psalm 63:1-2,

“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.

Psalm 63:5,

“I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.”

David used ‘only’ and ‘alone’ over and over in his Psalm because he realized that the only person he can trust is God and God alone. “Sometimes we Christians forget; we put our faith in God but we don’t trust Him alone,” she reminded, telling, “The only way to find soul satisfaction is to focus solely on God; no struggle is beyond the reach of our Father in heaven.”

Focus on God and Jesus; just like the woman with the issue of blood. All she needed was to touch the hem of Jesus’ gown to be whole again. “This does not mean all problems will be eliminated; it means we have the calmness of the soul and the soundness of mind; and the ability to be still and know that He is God,” she said.

So often we go to people for prayer and help, it is good but human beings – friends and pastors, can only do what they can do. “Ultimately, it’s God who helps us to overcome,” she said. David has learned to pull himself up when he is down. We need to do that; separating and positioning ourselves before Him.

“I believe there isn’t a moment each day that He doesn’t care,” she explained through her experience longing for oranges while on travel and God provided. “There isn’t anything He overlooks,” she said.

“He knows without His presence our soul will dry like the desert,” she explained likening dry soil that becomes hard and dry where only continuous watering can soften it. “Only Jesus can satisfy the soul that needs to be fed. Only Jesus can speak to the situation that we face and give us healing, restoration and wholeness,” she added. What we need in this hour is to know the voice of God.

“Have communion with Him; rise up. We are the salt and light,” she said asking, “If God can’t use us, what hope does this world have? If we don’t rise up now, when will we ever do?” The time is now for us to rise up and know Jesus.

“We carry power and anointing in us. We are God’s human face on earth; they can’t see God but they can see us,” she continued. “He wants us to reflect His goodness so that the world knows that He is our Father,” she said. God sent Him to us; to give us strength.

“This is the season of empowerment. Rise up church because He is putting a fresh mantle on us! Now is the time for us to display His splendor in our society,” she ended.
