Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Christ came to earth for you and me. He came because of His passionate love for the lost and as a mission to save souls. “He gave his very own life for you and me! Such a very touching, love and passion. Mission is the heartbeat of love, and that is why God gave his only begotten son to save you and me” shared Pastor Cleo Carmona who preached recently at Faith Oasis Fellowship, on the 5th of March 2014.
The Bible scripture above in Matthew 28:18-20, talks about how God has given us the authority over life and death through Jesus Christ. “Making disciples around the world and preaching the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is not just the responsibility of a pastor, or the apostles of Jesus, but the responsibility of you and I” he shared. In order to be successful in this mission, you need to gain a passion for God. This mission cannot be fulfilled if your passion for God is lost.
“The truth is, without passion, nothing is accomplished. Without passion, nothing great is ever sustained in life. Passion is what energizes us and gives life to the things we are doing and makes the impossible possible. Passion gives you a reason to wake up in the morning and be excited of the things that you are doing” said Cleo. He then went on to add that faith is important, the Word of God is important, but above all, we must have passion for our faith and for the Word of the Lord.
For example, even within our own human relationships there needs to be passion and fire but most passions become lost with time if not ignited and if not made a new. Do not let your relationships with the ones you love grow cold, and especially not the relationship you have with God. In terms of personal relationships, Cleo mentioned that no matter the time of day, he always praises his wife. Truly everything great that was created in the world was birthed by passion!
Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Acts 2:42-47
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
“If you want to become passionate for mission and the works of God, you must be filled with the Holy Spirit. When you and I are filled with the Holy Spirit we become passionate for the works of God and the Word of God” he shared. As a person in charge of taking care of your life and your doings, it is important to understand what controls your life, for what your mind consumes, controls your life! You cannot claim to be believers of God if you do not know His Word. When a person is filled with the Holy Spirit, you will know, for they will no longer live for their own purpose, but for the purposes of God.
Luke 6:45
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
We Can Never Out-give God
Cleo used to oversee an orphanage where they only used to graduate over 30 students at a time. When God spoke to Cleo and asked him to start a school in the Philippines one day, he was humble to obey the command for he knew that so many souls would be saved in the years to come. The work began in 2013, and finished in June that year. The obtaining of the permit to operate from the local educational department, was not smooth, but Cleo believed and he spoke to them with authority because he was confident! When they saw the complete building they were amazed at the standard of the building and immediately approved the permit allowing him to open up the school! According to procedure it wasn’t something that could have been approved normally.
Now Cleo runs the school enabling so many students to have good quality education. “Those who sow sparingly will reap sparingly, while those who sow generously will reap generously! God will give us His best when we give him our best. When you and I are filled with the Holy Spirit, it is not only happening in the book of Acts, it can happen now” he shared. Do not doubt God, for He will never abandon His promise. God will always be true to His promise!
