Bible Verses To Pray Over Our Children

Children are without a doubt the most precious gift parents have been entrusted with. Most, if not all parents want their children to grow up to be healthy functioning adults. As we strive to give our children the best of everything so that they become who they are destined to be, let us not forget that one of the most effective and powerful ways to shape our children – prayer, specifically, prayer based on the Word of God. Below are some Bible verses and confessions for three specific areas that will have an impact on the lives of our children.

Confession for Divine Protection

God’s word promises divine protection for our children. Therefore, let us claim that no evil shall come near my children. No plague shall come near my children; though a thousand may fall at their right hand, if shall not, will not, cannot come near my children. God’s angels encamp around my kids. The angles of the Lord have charge over them to protect and keep them from danger, harm, and injury of any kind. Though they walk through the fire they will not be burned. Though they walk through the valley of the shadow of death, they will fear no evil, for God is with them. No weapon formed against them will prosper. God is their refuge and fortress. He will deliver them from the traps of the enemy, and He will deliver them from deadly diseases. Under God’s wings they take refuge. I plead the blood of Jesus over them, and they shall not fall prey to the schemes of Satan.

‘Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6)

‘Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings” (Psalms 17:8)

‘No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling’ (Psalm 91:10)

‘No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me’ says the LORD.’ (Isaiah 54:17)

Confessions for a Healthy Self-Image

My children have a healthy self-image. They are confident in who they are and understand that God’s love makes them valuable. My children understand that who they are is determined by what God has declared them to be and not by what others say about them. God’s Word says that they are precious in His sight. They are children of the Most High God. He has chosen them and He has great plans for their lives. My children sees themselves as God sees them. They see themselves as more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. They are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath, going over and not under. They see themselves as victorious and triumphant in life. They are not filled with worry, anxiety or self-doubt; but courage, boldness and faith. They realize that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them. They think clearly and rationally, they have a positive attitude and will not allow the circumstances of life to steal their peace. I declare that my children are confident in their relationship with God, and therefore they are secure in who they are.

‘You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world’. (1 John 4:4)

‘Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.’ (Romans 8:37)

‘And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you’. (Philippians 1:6)

‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ (Philippians 4:13)

Confessions for Choosing Godly Friends

I know it is God’s will for my children to have a godly circle of friends. I believe the Holy Spirit will give them discernment regarding the right kind of friends. I believe God will bring my children godly friends who are strong spiritually, who love God, and who will have a positive impact on my children’s lives. I believe the Holy Spirit will lead my children to friends who love God and have a close relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit will help them to be sensitive to the needs of their friends and to encourage them in their spiritual walk. May God be at the center of all their friendships. I believe my children will develop strong, healthy friendships that will last and that they will recognize the value of close, godly friends.

‘If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.’ (James 1:5)

‘ He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.’ (Proverbs 13:20)

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work; if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
