Sharing Christ through the Strokes of a Pen- Tommy Chen

Tommy Chen is an artist who was touched by the Lord to draw in the Holy Spirit of paintings that speak to the hearts of men. Even crossing language and cultures, The Lord had used Tommy’s hands to sketch drawings that spoke about the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is a testimony shared by brother Tommy Chen during his last Myanmar Mission Trip in 2012.

PRAYER is talking to God – a sketch that lead a lady to receive salvation

During my last Mission Trip to Myanmar in 2012, our mission team was doing an outreach to a small village called Thawkhyin, which is about 45 minutes drive from Yangon City. We shared with the local villagers about the Gospel and many gave their lives to Jesus.

In the village, a 43-year-old lady came to our evangelistic meeting and she shared with us that while she practiced her faith, she became confused when she needed to pray and found it very challenging to pray. She was very hungry and thirsty for God’s love, and she wanted to know about the Christian prayer.

I tried very hard to explain to our Myanmar interpreter about the meaning of ‘prayer’, so that the interpreter could explain to the lady. But at this moment, I could suddenly sensed that the Holy Spirit was prompting my heart, asking me to take out my sketch book and draw an illustration of a man who is kneeling down to pray. The second image was the same man reading the Bible. The drawings were illustrated to describe ‘PRAYER‘ as talking to God, and God speaking to us through His Word, by reading the Bible.

The lady was so excited after knowing the true meaning of prayer and how to have deep relationship with Jesus Christ. Hence, she was ready to say the sinner’s prayer and opened her heart to accept Jesus Christ as her Lord!

God’s Power work supernaturally- a demon posed man set free

Another small village we visited was called Yaw Thar Gyi, which was 60 minutes drive from Yangon City. While walking in the village, we saw a small wooden hut with a very sick and weak young man lying in it. Our two local Myanmar pastors entered the hut and tried to understand the sick young man’s condition.

After a short conversation with him, I began to share the gospel with him and asked him whether he know Jesus Christ who loves him and can heal his sickness and give him hope to his life. He looked very desperate and hungry to know Jesus Christ.

So, all of us started to pray for him and led him to accept Salvation. It was about five minutes later that the Holy Spirit suddenly began to prompt my heart that the sick man was still possessed by some evil spirits and needed deliverance immediately. I told the two local pastors about this situation and asked them to pray in tongues together.

We began to worship the Lord in Spirit and asked the Lord to cast the evil spirits out from the sick young man. The Lord revealed to me a verse in 1 John 4:4 that says, “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

A spiritual warfare took place for some period, before the sick young man was finally set free from the evil spirits. We were so joyful and gave all praises and glory to the Lord because He was indeed good for healing and delivering that young man.

We also managed to take pictures of the man before and after receiving Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His face appearance had changed so differently as the Lord gave him a hope and a future!
