The Word This Week – FORTUNE DOES NOT RESPOND TO FORTUNATE PEOPLE

9 Dec 2013 by Rev Dr Jai Kumar –

 Prov.23:7

As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.

Fortunes do not answer to fortunate people, it responds to wisdom. Every breakthrough and achievement in life is often accomplished by those who search for new avenues and challenges in life.

THE KEY IS A TRANSFORMED MINDSET

A transformed mind will become an informed mind. An informed mind will change a person to become wise. It is learning, and not yearning that increases a person’s wealth. That is why the moment you stop learning, you start dying! Ignorance is a terrible human sickness which kills people. It can make you poor in the midst of plenty.

A TEACHABLE SPIRIT WILL ENHANCE YOUR WISDOM TO PROGRESS

Prov.15 (NIV)

Let the wise listen and add to their Learning

It's really sad when people don't realize that growth isn't automatic. Every phase that you and I go through in life, we go through only once. It passes by, and yet you can learn to become wiser or end up unfortunately immature sometimes.

Knowledge is to the mind what light is to the eyes. Counsel is important to the mind, so obviously it is a necessity for progress.

Prov. 11:14

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safty.

In the world in which we live, everything appears initially in its crude form. You know what? Anything in its crude form will always be under-valued. At birth the mind is in its crude form. So often there are times you come across people placing a lesser value on you because obviously they have not seen the refinement of your mind. But the fact of the matter is that everything, including life, has to go through a process of transformation. Therefore, until your mind is changed, your circumstances will unfortunately remain the same.

The path to anything worthwhile is always very tough! But that isn't going to put us off. The sooner you undertake to face challenges, the closer you will achieve your God – ordained goal in life.

A FIXED THOUGHT PATTERN WILL MAKE YOU A PRISONER

You know what? Obviously there is a kind of thought that does not help you to grow: a thought pattern which holds you captive to yesterday and prevents you from moving to the next level. Such thinking makes you a suspicious person. It hinders you from trusting people who are out to bless you. It fills you with unnecessary worries and causes you to have an antagonistic attitude towards others. A cynical, suspicious and envious thought pattern can make you a prisoner in your own body and you know what? It can become an enemy of your progress and transformation.

A PRICE TO BE PAID TO GO TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Growth demands the surrender of the things that we are so familiar with and love so much to do, for example, values no longer believed in! Relationships that have lost its meaning! Unrewarding practices such as gluttony that destroys your health!  Sadly, many of us stop growing because the cost gets too high! Growth apparently requires change! And most of us, I am afraid, are uncomfortable with change. They focus on their liabilities instead of their possibilities! Solomon says:

Prov.4

Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

What you sow today determines what you reap tomorrow. Today's challenges that you take on will bring tomorrow’s success. But there is a price that we all need to pay! You will always have to trade something you have in order to get something you want!!

Rethinking Mindset

You must think differently in order to succeed differently. You cannot hope to stay in the same zone of mindset and expect God to change your circumstances. Neither can you keep doing the same thing and expect to see different results.
