This Time, Enter the Tabernacle and Stay – FGA USJ

Worship time - FGA USJ

23rd Oct 2012.  By Natasha Kim,  CM  –

Full Gospel Assembly USJ (FGA USJ) is under the FGA family of Churches which has quite a large number of outreaches. These satellite Churches were planted by FGA KL and they are now located at various places such as in Serdang, Kepong, Selayang, Sungei Buloh, Wangsa Permai, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Setapak, Rawang, Kajang, Perak, Pahang, Sungei Besar and of course in Cheras as well. This particular satellite Church that I got the chance to visit is located strategically around Taman Industri Subang. It is a humble Church that started off in the year 1996. Many flock to it, from young to old. It is mostly filled with people who bring their families to worship God. While I was there, for their early morning Sunday service the hall was slowly filling up with people.

Looking at the building itself, one would say it isn’t too big, but the large hall that they have inside is able to accommodate a sufficient number of people at least a few hundred people. This humble Church was interesting because everyone knows each other. When smaller Churches are concerned, it brings a more homely feel when you enter. If one is looking for a Church and looking to fit right in, as well as get acquainted with many friendly faces, this is definitely one of the Churches to visit.

Pastor Dennis Balan preached today and he started off with a reading from 2 Kings 2:1-6 which talks about how Jesus will never leave us, a story about Elijah and Elisha. We must not remain in our past and move forward because there is no shame in us as long as we walk with Jesus. He then showed everyone the structure and dimensions of the Tabernacle, and talked about how we cannot keep entering it and leaving it. Anyone who cries out to God, God will be with them. However when one gets too busy or tired we tend to withdraw from God. Sometimes our heart can be hardened and that can become a routine in our lives. The Tabernacle is a place of overcoming our flesh. Pastor says, “Our greatest enemy is not the devil, but our own flesh. If we can conquer our flesh then we can have Victory. Impurity, lust, evil desires, lies, anger, idolatry, anything that takes the place of God becomes an idol. With God touch we can do it. Do not have any other idolatry, and idolatries can be anything even school or work.” Even technology can be your idol such as your phones or tablets. “We are living in difficult times”, he says. God wants to renew and awaken our lives so walk with God. Holiness is loving, we cannot act holy, all of us are holy. Christian life is an exciting life and life giving. Pastor Dennis says, “We are ordinary people but God has made us extraordinary.”

He then ended by telling the story of “An Ordinary Man from Assam, North East India”. In short the story goes like this. One Welsh missionary succeeded in converting a man, his wife, and two children 150 years ago in North East India. This particular man’s faith proved contagious and many villagers began to accept Christianity. This however angered the village chief and many others in the tribe. He then called this family to renounce their faith in public or face execution. Moved by the Holy Spirit, the man instantly composed a song which became famous down the years and that is “I have decided to follow Jesus”, a popular song today in Churches. This was the song he sang as his family faced execution one by one. Before and while each of them were executed he kept on singing this song until his last breath.
