Don’t be in despair after reading part one of the article for having this knowledge brings you much further and to a better place. Now that you know you can read on and make a change.
Fortunately there is a way to break the curse; after all there the Bible mentions blessings twice as more as compared to curses. There are many people who have been set free and live to prosper, including their generations to come.
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
(Luke 10:19)
A man once said, “All my life I’ve been in pain and I’ve been miserable. I haven’t known one happy day.” But then said, “Since I prayed that prayer with you, everything has changed me. I’m totally free from pain, I’m a different person.”
“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”
(Galatians 3: 13 – 14)

The book of Leviticus in the Old Testament revealed that whoever dies by hanging on a tree is a curse. Derek Prince however explained in his book that when Jesus hung on the tree that was the cross He became a curse.
Then an exchange took place, a divine one. He took on every sin upon himself when He died, He died for us, so that we may live and have eternal life. In other words he became a curse so that we might receive blessing. Another blessing that we Christians usually receive is through partaking Holy Communion for Paul mentioned in the Bible that it is a blessing. The following are the seven blessings as mentioned in Derek’s book:-
- Exaltation (lifted up)
- Re-productiveness (fruitful in all areas of life)
- Health
- Successful / Prosperous
- Victorious
- You’ll be the head not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13)
- You’ll be above and not beneath
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”
(James 4:7)
Therefore submit yourselves, resist evil, confess your faith and be obedient to the Lord for He will break all boundaries. You have the ability to be released from it. “It’s like if there’s a strong wind blowing you have to keep the door shut. If you open the door the wind will come in.” Derek said. Despite all curses, all of us to qualify for God’s blessings. When God allowed us to have free-will He made us responsible for our own actions and though some may question,
“How come we’ve done nothing wrong but the curse of our ancestors follows us?” Derek shared that, “You are not guilty of your ancestor’s sins, but you are affected by them.”
“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."
(Mark 11:25)
I believe that unforgiveness does hurt your soul and that hatred whether you like it or not builds up a barrier, not only between you and that particular person you hold a grudge against, but also builds up a barrier between you and God, between you and your blessings! Allow yourself to be set free for you have the power to release that hurt and anger that’s within you and allow God to deal with all your worries, for He loves you so and He understands all that we are going through. If you put your trust in Him, then believe that He will take care of it! “Forgiving is not an emotion, it is a decision” shared Derek.
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged.”
(Matthew 7:1)
Now that you have a clear idea of blessings and curses and if you feel like you’re living under a shadow, renounce your sins and release yourself in the name of Jesus. If you do not already know how to release yourself, just say the prayer below:-
“Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you are the Son of God and the only way to God, that you dies on the cross for my sins and rose again from the dead. That on the cross you were made a curse with every curse that is due to me, that I might be redeemed from the curse and enter into the blessing. Lord, I confess any sins committed by me or by my ancestors. I ask for your forgiveness. I also forgive every other person whoever harmed me and wronged me. I forgive them as I would have God forgive me. I also forgive myself. I renounce all contact with the occult in any form and I commit myself to get rid of any “contact objects”. And now Lord, having received by faith your forgiveness, with the authority I have as a child of God, I now release myself and those under my authority from any curse over our lives. Right now, in the name of Jesus, I declare release. I claim it and I receive it by faith. In the name of Jesus.”
