Men of God, Rise Up in Prayer!- Sunrise Prayer Group Klang

19 Apr 2013 by Adeline Lum CM-

About 11 men gathered together around a ping pong table at 7 in the morning. True to the name of the meeting — Sunrise Prayer—these men in Klang gathered before sunrise to pray and worship God every weekday at different places.

And on April 11th 2013, they gathered at the ping-pong training center founded and owned by Julian Law. The shofar was blew three times before the brothers-in-Christ broke into prayer and tongues. After that, they worshipped God by singing hymns such as Psalm 213 and Psalm 122.

“Here we come again to worship your Holy Name. You’re the Kings of Kings! As we speak Lord, we know that all these come from you because you’re a King Almighty God,” prayed Julian.

The speaker on that day was Senior Pastor Rajan Ratnam of Sekinah Glory Church.

“I get excited when I see men coming to pray because in most meetings, I see more women pray,” said Pastor Rajan.

His message was a message of comfort for those who are anxious about the future.

“There was never a day like today. If God led the people of Israel with everlasting hands, why should we fear in our lives?” said Pastor Rajan.

Our God is great and undefeatable.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him (1 Cor 2:9).

2 Chronicles 7:14 says ‘if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’

“God would bring us victory whenever we look up to Him. He says call upon me and I will show you great and mighty things that you don’t know (Jeremiah 33:3)We call God out of our inadequacies and weaknesses. We are not strong but God is. We come out of our incompleteness, reproach, and shame. And we cry to our Abba Father for Him to move,” said Pastor Rajan.

As this year is the Jubilee year, it is a reminder of how our Heavenly Father is able to provide His people without them striving or struggling. No power beneath earth and in Heaven can take God’s blessings in our lives away. But we simply need to consecrate what we have and give everything to the Lord.

“God always does something unprecedented. At one moment, he parts the red sea. At another moment, he parts the river. Have God stop working miracles in our lives? Have God stop supplying us manna in Heaven? The answer is no,” said Pastor Rajan.

When we pray, we invoke God’s powerful and mighty hands over whatever evil people would scheme. But what should we fear when God can frustrate the enemy?

Citing Gideon in Judges 7, his army of 32,000 people was trimmed down to 300 men. The armies against Gideon’s army were ‘thick as locusts’ (Judges 7:12). But God won the battle. He cut down Gideon’s army because He doesn’t receive glory in flesh but He receive glory in spirit.

God doesn’t receive glory in flesh but He receive glory in spirit!

Pastor Rajan also shared Exodus 12 on how God would ‘passover’ for us akin to how the angels ‘passover’ the doorpost with the blood of the lamb. Hence, we do not need to fear of any impending destruction.

“Men, you are the priest of the house who are called to minister to God and people. Never stop fighting spiritually for your family. Men, pray for your family. That is the greatest thing you can do!’ said Pastor Rajan. “Prayer doesn’t mean eloquent and long prayers, but a prayer coming from the heart of inadequacy. “

Powerful Men PRAY

When we pray, we invoke God’s powerful and mighty hands

The other calling for us is to be Christ’s ambassador. God is pleading through us to be reconciled back to Jesus (2 Cor 5:20).

“God would use circumstances to lead us to Him so that we would depend on Him in grace. So, we need a spiritual change!” said Pastor Rajan.

Sharing about Daniel Chapter 9, Pastor Rajan cited Daniel’s way of coming to God. Firstly, Daniel acknowledged God.

“In the same way, when we wake up in the morning, we need to rise up and acknowledge his divine sovereignty. No matter how a situation turns out to be, come and worship God (Daniel 9:7). Our God is a good God. And He cannot do evil because He is righteous. He is also a just God. Do not be afraid,” said Pastor Rajan.

Secondly, Daniel acknowledged the sin of the land, his forefathers and also himself. Daniel also named the sins, whether done intentionally or unintentionally (Daniel 9:8-15).

Thirdly, Daniel had deep repentance (Daniel 9:16-19). He was petitioning to God with thanksgiving and prayer.

Everyone rising up for Holy Communion! A sister-in-Christ joined the prayer group that day!

“When you start praying, the devil will not come. He will only stop you from praying. When Daniel prayed, Gabriel the angel came down and said to him: Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding (Daniel 9:22). That is what the Holy Spirit would also do. Not by might, not by power, but through prayer, you would hear the voice of God and the heavenly doors would open. So, continue to pray,” said Pastor Rajan.

The strongest men are the men who pray. So, let us lift our voice and pray for our future.

May God’s Will be done.

Also, if we have a SUNRISE Prayer Group every weekend in Klang, let us have it too in Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Cheras, Damansara and all over Malaysia! May we see MORE MEN rise up in prayer to the Lord!
