It’s a scary yet unusual thing to observe a body that has no more life in it. Many are afraid because we are so used to being able to predict what happens in the next stages of life. We can’t but God says to us “Do not be afraid” (Luke 12:32) but have faith in Him because only He knows when you shall be born and when you shall go.
A line that is commonly thrown out of the window is “material things in your life will not last”. It never does hit you until you experience the death of a beloved or go through a negative experience which causes you to lose something. All those beloved items are gone in an instant, along with everything “material” you’ve built up in this world. What’s left at the end are memories, the only thing you can actually carry with you after death.
Do not be Afraid
A WOW (Wings of Wisdom) event was recently held at City Revival Church where Pastor Louis Manuel came to preach and encourage the senior citizens of the Church ministry. The topic of the day was about Death.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
(John 8:32)
According to the Bible, God has not given any of us the spirit of fear. “It is the devil that gives us this spirit” he said. Do not let yourself be kept in bondage.
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.
(Hebrew 2:14)
but the Bible also says to us,
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
(Psalm 23:4)
“If you can overcome death, you can go through life saying “I’m free” shared Louis. A long time ago when he did not know Jesus Christ, he was so afraid to die. At the peak of his career, he was struck down by severe sicknesses which almost cost him his life, and ruined him financially.
It was then that he sought after strange gods in strange lands to restore him, all to no avail. By the mercy and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, a thunderstorm in the streets of Singapore channeled him and his wife to a Christian meeting. Now he knows the truth and at the age of 80, he boldly says, “I’m not afraid to die!”
Always Do What is Right in God’s Eyes
If you are sick, do not let sickness take over you and not allow you to do anything. What you must do is continue the work of God and He will continue to bless your soul abundantly. “You ought to be very careful of some of your friends, who throw negative things into you, and you don’t seem to know it, and you’re absorbing it. Reject it!
By the name of Jesus and the power of Jesus you have been set free” he shared. “Keep your body clean and healthy, that is your job because God sees your body as a temple. What kind of temple are you?” he added.
Your eyes are the windows to your soul, and are the cameras of which you capture and imitate. However, we should not imitate others, everyone is different. “When you feel sick that’s the time to get up and say “I shall serve God” he said.
No matter how bad the situation, thank God everything and in everything give thanks!
“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
God will build up what is broken!
He also shared that, “One of the many reasons people get sick, is because they start tearing others down. When they fall you fall. For example when you speak bad of your wife you are tearing God down. You are telling God, “God you didn’t do a good job! How dare you say that to God when God has said,
“You are fearfully and wonderfully made”
(Psalm 139:14)
As soon as you hear someone tearing someone down, leave the place, because it would be a much cleaner place than to be there and listening to that. “Whenever I get angry at my wife, I think of the time she sat on the bicycle wearing her blue school uniform and immediately the anger that has come, is gone in a moment” he shared.
You will get what you say so speak positively, and better yet speak out the words of God. “I’m giving you little pointers to help you, so that you will not fear death anymore because you can confidently say that, “The Son has set me free!” he said.
“I’m looking forward to tomorrow because tomorrow is a new day!” said Louis. As time gets nearer, do not fear death but be prepared all the time, but say “Death where is your sting, O Grave where is your victory!” Positive words can revive your soul so push on and keep the Word of God close to your heart everywhere you go.
– WOW (Wings of Wisdom) is an active ministry for senior citizens that gives them an opportunity to bond and fellowship with one another. Some of the recent activities that were held recently included a trip to Aquaria KLCC, Brand’s Factory and Beryl’s Chocolate Factory. The ministry gives them a chance to speak up and showcase their talents. It shows that it is never too late to serve and that God can still use people, regardless of age, to touch lives and bring Him to glory.
