“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” (1 Cor. 1:27)

The reason God chooses the foolish, base and weak is because those who see themselves as wise, already think they know it all. The people who are strong and powerful count on their own strength to solve their problems in life. They don’t need or want anyone’s help. And you know, God will not help someone who is not willing to be helped.

What does God mean when He says He will take the foolish things of this world to confound the wise?

But God made selection of the foolish things of this world so that He might put the wise to shame; and the feeble things that He might put to shame the strong.

We are a chosen and peculiar people, but we are chosen not for our own wisdom, power or might. We are chosen because we were weak, foolish and base, which makes us like miry clay in the Potter’s hand.

God wants to take us down to the very depth of ourselves to teach us that if there is any power, it is the power that comes from God, and not in us.

When you have depleted all your resources in trying to solve your problem, you bet your life you need the supernatural intervention of the Almighty God in your hopeless and helpless situation! And the key to your breakthrough is your prevailing faith that may appear foolish to the world.

IF YOU ABIDE IN BELIEVING FAITH YOU WILL INHERIT THE PROMISES OF GOD

What is it that you are suffering from today that the devil has been whispering to you repeatedly that you cannot be healed and you have been conforming to this lie being the truth?

Heb. 11: 6: And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD

IF I COULD ONLY TOUCH THE HEM OF HIS GARMENT I WILL BE HEALED

(MATT.9:21)

This woman was afflicted with this disease for 12 long terrible and shameful years. A continual flow of blood came from deep within her and since she was a Jew she was considered cursed, an outcast and therefore unclean and untouchable. Can you imagine the stigma upon her?

Imagine for 12 long years, she bore the emotional and psychological baggage and the pain of being ostracised from her family and the community around her.

I wonder what misery it would have been like, to experience such pain and humiliation for a person especially a woman in  a society? Unthinkable I guess!

The Jewish law of the Old Testament states: if you associate with such a person you become unclean automatically that was the norm of the culture in those days.

Levi 15:25  “‘When a woman has a discharge of blood for many days at a time other than her monthly period or has a discharge that continues beyond her period, she will be unclean as long as she has the discharge, just as in the days of her period.”

The culture of her time in which she lived, women with such affliction were virtually stigmatized and not allowed to function as a wife and a mother. They were not allowed to be involved in the daily chores of housework. They were not permitted to cook. They were practically isolated not only in their own family but also in the community as a whole.

I believe she sat in an isolated state of rejection and for all you know, depression would have set in. The Bible says  for 12 long years she wasted all her money;  apparently this woman was not poor she had money to chase after doctors trying to find a solution for her problem but it was all in vain. Not only she was left broke at the end of the day, her condition became worse on top of it. Presumably I guess she must have lost faith in the doctors since they were not able to fix her problem. The question we need to ask is that where was her faith was it rested on her money or was it elsewhere?

SHE SHIFTED HER TRUST ON JESUS

But then she suddenly hears about Jesus, she believes I suppose that Jesus is a miracle-working God and she looks for Him in desperation with a mind-blowing level of faith.

Therefore she said within herself; “if I may but touch His garment I shall be whole” (Matthew 9:21). I just wish to ask you “what kind of faith was that”? I believe most of us would want a face to face encounter with God under such circumstances.

But this woman with the issue of blood was totally different. She changed her mindset and said to herself “if I could only touch the hem of His garment”.

Where was she in the beginning and where did she end up when she received that supernatural healing?

You notice that at this critical moment of her life she shifted her faith from trusting in man’s ability to God’s ability!  Man’s system to God’s system! Her thought pattern and mindset was radically transformed and she began to move in a different level of faith.

You see when you trust in men’s systems, you have already concluded your destiny. When the doctors tell you, you have just got six months to live and you believe that to be true, you will die in six months. Because the Bible says what you believe is what will manifest in your life.

Although her condition became worse as the Bible says, despite her hopeless and helpless situation she was determined not to give up. She did not just conclude or accept the fact that she has to live like this until the day she dies. But instead she looked for the One who gives hope to the hopeless.

Here is what we need to understand. Never allow your present condition to conclude your future. If you have the believing faith to apply in your desperate situation you can move the miracle-working hand of God in your favour.
