You say God has called you into His ministry. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Matt. 16: 24)
Then He said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me (Luke 8:23).
How often have we DISCOVERED that our goals and core values do not coincide or do not match to God’s will and purpose for your life. The question we need to seriously ask ourselves is that: Did we really hear from God or is it some counterfeit voice of the enemy that you heard?
What were you thinking when you first took up this mantel? Is what you are experiencing now different from what you thought in the beginning? If your expectations were totally different from the beginning then you need to seriously evaluate your call.
The reason why this is so is you did not wait on the Lord to direct your path when you first stepped into the ministry of your life. Did you see what God saw for you in your life? Or perhaps were you too quick and full of anxiety that you forgot that it’s God’s business that you are meddling with rather than your own!
Moses made that gross error in his life. The moment he discovered that he was a Hebrew child he jumped the gun. You see the problem with Moses was, he thought all he needed was only his power and his intelligence and that obviously became his downfall. He thought he was of the household of Pharaoh therefore he could accomplish anything. He did not go to God to seek for direction, to seek for counsel. Therefore he had no covering from the enemy. As a result of this weakness and immaturity God placed him in the desert for 40 years training before he was fit to lead the people of God out of Egypt once again. The problem with humans is that we fail because we try to act cleverer than God. And most of the time we mess ourselves up because of our foolish behaviour and we blame it on the devil.
THE ENEMY IS SO SUBTLE
All of your power, your authority, your preservation, your soundness, your prosperity, you healing, your peace, your joy and all of your inheritance is invested in your identity in Christ. All of these will become a reality and manifest in you if your identity is grounded and rooted in Christ: your union with Christ.
The power of the enemy is to drag us away and take us captive if our hearts are not under the control of the Holy Spirit. No matter how many years you are in ministry! No matter how great a charisma you may carry to mesmerize the people it doesn’t really matter, you can still be “ship- wrecked” if there is no character of God in you. Character of God produces life. Your gifting is not enough. Your anointing is not enough. God is looking for a people with such character. When you have His character you can sail through a storm and your ship will not sink.
IF IT’S GOD’S BUSINESS YOU HAVE TO PURSUE TRUTH
David said:”Teach me Your way, that I may walk and live in Your truth.” (Ps 86:11). David was seeking the truth and he knew that truth can come from God and God alone!
The problem with many of us today is we always want a quick fix to all our problems. We don’t wait on God. We want everything to be instantaneous. We forget the significant purpose that waiting is an important process of character building. There are some things we only learn by waiting, praying and continuously fellowshipping with the lord. You know what? Our inability to wait and seek God in the spirit is the causes of so many miseries that have been birthed by the mistakes in our lives today. You want everything to be in a hurry but have you realized that it is God who is in control of your destiny?
David knew the importance of waiting on the Lord. David knew the importance of seeking God in the spirit.
Ecc. 3:11: Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
God sometimes has to work in your spirit before He can work on your circumstances. God sometimes has to birth some things in the spirit before He can allow it to manifest in the physical. Unfortunately, we have become so arrogant! Many of us have become so intellectualized that we think “I know everything”. You use our limited mind to understand knowledge.
As Christians the way we view the world comes from the word of God. Everything how we live and act has to be aligned to God’s written word. This is our foundation! This is our anchor! In other words we filter all the info of this world through the lens of God’s word with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Religious people don’t see the way you see because they merely function with their mind.
Have you forgotten the great teacher Nicodemus had all the knowledge and wisdom but he lacked the wisdom of God which Jesus said can only come from a born-again spirit? Jesus told him you have failed. It’s not about your head knowledge! It’s not about the wisdom of man! It’s not about your intellectual mind. Many people are like Nicodemus today. They say “I understand God”, “I can steer my boat on my own”. Pastors seem to have answers for all that’s happening around. Some of them unfortunately behave like gods. When things go wrong they are quick to blame the devil, they blame the system, the blame the culture, they blame everything to justify their mistakes. They will never admit their faults. They will never ask for forgiveness. They become defensive all the way through. Just because you have a crowd backing you it doesn’t mean you are right!
NO!! You don’t know anything! You don’t even have a drop in the ocean of what God is all about! Come on! Get serious!
David cried out for God’s ways! His righteousness! His truth! David knew if ever he wanted to walk in God’s direction and purpose he needed to seek the attributes of God in his life. Day and night he meditated on God’s word to hear the voice of God clearly. He knew in order to sustain himself he needed heaven to back him up and if ever heaven is going to back him up he needed to be TRUTHFUL and real!! David was quick to repent and ask for forgiveness that touched God’s heart and God was able to lift him up once again and work in his life continuously.
The saddest part of one’s life is to wake up one fine morning just to discover that all you have achieved in your life and ministry was all about yourself; a wasted time. It was not what God wanted you to do. It was what you wanted to do! You realized everything was vanity, vanity, vanity! It was of no eternal value at all!
