“in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.” (Ephesians 3:12)
The Bible says, in Hebrews 11:1: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Habakkuk 2:4 KJV
“The just shall walk by faith.”
Seriously, when you walk by faith you bet your life there will be a lot of testings that you need to endure. When God starts testing your faith you need to be aware that FAITH IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF FEAR BUT FAITH IS DESPITE THE FEARS YOU ARE BOLD ENOUGH TO STEP FORWARD knowing who you are stepping forward with. Then you will realize that you are walking in the destiny and purpose of God in your life.
The prophet Elijah was one of the boldest prophets of God. He could call fire to come down from heaven. He could declare a drought and he could cause rain to come down again. Yet he was running fearfully as fugitive, as a wanted man from Jezebel for his life.
The prophet Elijah was sitting alone beside a dried-up stream, he was suddenly sent away into the desert to Zarephath. Elijah had to come out of his hiding totally trusting God for his safety. Can you imagine God sending him to an impoverished widow in the middle of a famine who was ready to eat her last meal and call it a day; she was all set to die as there was no more food left over to survive? God’s ways are totally different from our ways! His thoughts are higher than our thoughts! (Isaiah 55:8). The mistake that many of us make is that we bring God down to our level and make Him so small. In doing so, we put God in a box.
1 Kings 17: 8-16
And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
12 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.
15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.
Here is what we need to understand. Despite the widow’s circumstances of extreme poverty and lack! Despite the fact that she saw a hopeless situation! Elijah challenged her to obey the promise of God: that is to make him a meal.
1 Kings 17:14
“There will always be plenty of flour and olive oil in your containers until the Lord sends rain and the crops grow”.
Who is this God!!
What gave Elijah such mountain moving faith to tell that to the widow? He was fearful of his own life yet he obeyed the voice of God in the midst of his fears. What kind of faith! What kind of boldness is that!? You know what? Despite what was going on, Elijah was never intimidated by his circumstances; he stepped into the supernatural realm and spoke a Rhema word to the poor widow.
When you have personally experienced God’s faithfulness in your life, you can talk that way and you can walk that way!
There is something that we need to understand in the Kingdom of God. There is a powerful anointing that radiates from people of God who walk in faith. When you walk in faith, no matter what your hopeless circumstances may appear, you are literally touching the heart-beat of God who has promised nothing is impossible with Him! Many of us fail to realize when you move forward with faith despite all the discouragement and fears that you experience around you, you are walking in His miracles! You are walking in His favor! You are virtually breaking through into a new season in your life! Faith can move mountains! (Matt.17:20)
You know what? When you rub shoulders with people of real faith, it becomes contagious and builds your faith as well and amazingly this poor widow was no exception. God made sure as long as the famine lasted that poor widow and her son had no lack in their supply.
What are you struggling with right now? You know what? Your Father will never give you anything less than the best! All you need to do is trust God and honour Him with what you have got and when the time is right, He will send you an increase! He will send you a miracle! He will send you a breakthrough that will overflow in your life!
