And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God… according to His purpose (Romans 8:28)
GOD WILL DEAL WITH EACH OF US ACCORDING TO OUR CHARACTER
When God delays the things you ask for in your life, it’s time for us to take a pause and ask ourselves what is God trying to convey to you by putting you in that situation? Delay is good for you because it teaches us a lot of lessons. In the process of your delay you will see the goodness of God in your life. In the process of your delay you will see the character of God formed in your life. Humans hate delay because they want their desires to be met immediately. Many people have unfortunately misunderstood delay. Their understanding is that if God is going to give you anything at all, it should be instantaneous! That’s not true at all!
You know what? It requires spiritual maturity and wisdom from above to really understand that a delay is not necessarily a denial from God. However God will handle each person, God will shape and mould each individual, according to our makeup. He will not throw in a million dollars to a baby Christian. He will not ask you to plant a church when you have no clue of church planting. He will not ask you to go to Pharaoh and say: “LET MY PEOPLE GO”. He expects you to first have the capacity to handle whatever task is given to you in His Kingdom. Sadly there are a lot of people who never grow in the delay process that God brings about in their lives. That indeed is a tragedy so to speak.
YOU DON’T TELL GOD WHAT’S BEST FOR YOU
Unfortunately a lack of discernment in this area of God’s plan and purpose can become a HINDRANCE. When you don’t allow God to direct your path and instead tell God how to direct your life, you end up messing around with God’s destiny for your life. A lot of people delay God’s destiny for them further because of ignorance and lack of understanding.
Like the Israelites in the wilderness who began to be clever than God. Despite all the goodness and mercy that was shown to them by the grace of God, they became ungrateful, rebellious and displayed unbelief. Because of their attitude and behaviour God became gravely displeased. God said you are not even qualified to enter the Promised Land.
Can you imagine an 11 day journey took 40 years? Yet in the process of that delay they never matured and grew into the capacity to become the recipient of the blessing and finally never made it through into the Promised Land.
The things we go through in this process of delay are to bring us towards spiritual maturity and to ultimately move us into God’s destiny for our lives.
If you understand delay you will advance from where you are currently now to where God wants you to go.
MOSES WAS PUT IN A DELAY PROCESS FOR 40 YEARS TO TRANSFORM HIM BEFORE HE COULD TAKE UP THE MANDATE OF GOD.
When you don’t have the capacity to run the race in God’s mandate, God will delay you in the wilderness. Imagine 40 years of preparation in the wilderness! The greater the task the greater may be the delay according to each individual’s capacity.
JOSEPH WAS PUT IN A PERIOD OF DELAY
Joseph had a dream when he was young that he would be somebody great but despite all the unjust things done to him he did not run away from the DREAM. Joseph kept his dream and vision alive despite what the enemy was trying to do to him. He knew that God had a plan, God had a purpose for his life and this delay is merely teaching his hands to fight. As David said: (Psalm.144:1)
Finally he was promoted to become second in command of a civilization that was so advanced. He knew all the delays that were happening to him was a process in God’s purpose and plan to get him to the place God had already designed for him, that God had already shown him earlier on.
Have you ever questioned why some troubles seem to last too long? Have you ever wondered why you have to go through certain trials in life while others seem to escape?
You have a dream, a great dream! But things aren’t happening! Your dream is not manifesting! In fact you are facing a situation where your very survival is questionable sometimes.
You are struggling to pay the bills, you see others who are less qualifed than you being blessed and doing well. Your current season will not last forever. Your present condition will not be the same all the time.
You know what? When you are sensitive to your delays in God’s purpose, you will discover that God was setting you up for a blessing. He is getting you ready for an uncommon breakthrough! The present suffering is intended to mature and strengthen you for a future blessing that God is going to bring about into your life. There is a period of weeping and pain which goes on for the night but joy follows in the morning (Psalms 30:5).
But you know what? You need to allow God to take control of your life and let go of all your stubbornness and your selfishness and you need to realize that it’s not about me anymore; it’s all about God and His agenda. If you can arrive at this place, a new season of breakthrough will begin to surface in your life.
Believe me! You will not be in the same season forever! Seasons will have to change! But until God decides it’s over for you, only then, you will be moving on to the new season. When that season arrives, your moment arrives! The impossible doors that you thought will never open at all, the blessing!, the breakthrough!, the favor!, the miracle!, the healing!, will suddenly burst into your situation.
Perhaps, you have been through so much, waiting so long for a miracle, waiting so long for a healing, waiting so long for a breakthrough, meanwhile losing hope and getting so tired of your present season. But you know what? When your appointed time is due, God will move the world for you! Heaven will start to smile at you. When your breakthrough is due, you are on the roller skates going from glory to glory.
