At a recent Full Gospel Businessman meeting at Summit, Subang Jaya, on the 16th of July 2014, evangelist Pastor Anbu Balan from India preached a powerful word. He encouraged and reminded everyone that God is a faithful God no matter what the circumstances are in your life. God is so faithful that anyone who seeks Him can find Him. Faith is a gift, but even a gift must be opened to be enjoyed. As we continuously follow out our faith, we will realise more about God’s faithfulness to us.
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. (Hebrews 6:18)
“When you go running to the feet of the Lord, your situation will be changed! Every morning we need to go into the presence of God and grasp or take the power for today. If you’re a Christian you need to receive new grace and a new word from God every day, if we are sick or if we are crying and we are not going to the feet of the Lord, we are missing so many things,” he shared. Whenever you need healing, go to the Lord; whenever your heart is aching go to the Lord; whenever you feel weak go to the Lord; and in everything and anything, go to the Lord.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)
But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
Why does God repeatedly assure us of His presence? He does so because we need to be reminded of the reason for our confidence. Each time God calls a servant into action, God essentially says, “You can be strong and courageous because I am with you. Victory isn’t about your abilities, your strength, your skill, your armor, your gifts, or your dedication; it has to do with My presence. You can be strong because I will be strong in you.”
“The presence of God can only come into you when you spend time with God,” he shared.
They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the LORD, to deliver you.” (Jeremiah 1:19)
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6)
There are so many scriptures that lead us to the word of God’s faithfulness. The most life-changing one is when God proclaimed His love and forgiveness for our sins. One perfect example of prophecies that have come to pass is the promise of a Messiah or Saviour in the Old Testament. Surely enough, the prophecy was fulfilled when our Saviour Jesus came to atone for our sins in the time of the New Testament through God’s faithful promise.
God wants you to be confident that He is pouring His strength into you so that you can do what it takes to get through the obstacles in your life. Jesus carried the burden that we were meant to carry. His perfect obedience is applied to us through faith, just as His righteousness was exchanged for our sin at the cross. Our obedience to Jesus then becomes our “spiritual worship.”
The Holy Spirit who dwells with us works in our lives to mold us into the image of Christ, thereby making the yoke of Jesus easy and His burden light. The life lived by faith is a much lighter yoke and a much easier burden to carry than the heavy and burdensome yoke of self-righteousness under which we continually strive to make ourselves acceptable to God through works. Everyone needs that genuine sense of God’s closeness that is always with them so that they may gather His strength in them when they are weak, for God is our strength and our refuge!
