12th December 2012 by Mindy Oon- CM.
After a busy, exciting and inspirational day of the SHINE conference, most, if not all the delegates returned with hungry hearts for more of God even though some were tired after the long day. As with the first night, the closing night started with awesome praise and worship. This was followed by Priscilla Raj, founder of SHINE, sharing about two projects that SHINE is undertaking in 2013.
The first project, Project 31, is a project aimed at helping the Orang Asli community. The second Project, Beauty for Ashes is a project that aims to help women and girls who have been victims of rape, abuse, and human trafficking. It is hoped that through Beauty for Ashes, a shelter home will be set up in 2013 for women who have been victims to recover and find hope in the Lord.
The night carried on with Rev. Prof. Dr. George Thevarakam speaking on ‘Two Things that Every Woman To Know” The first thing every woman should know are the things that God has already done for each one of us. Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, we need to remember that God is with us. In fact, He is not only ‘with us’, but He is ‘for us’, and IN us. We need to realize and remember that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is in us.
It is when we believe what God says about us that we can become the women God wants us to be. It is our choice if we want to be rich in God and trust in His ways. The Lord knows our hearts, and we need to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6v33). Indeed, sometimes our prayers sound pretty much like ‘gimme, gimme, gimme’. Instead, we need to count our blessings and remember what the Lord has done. Jesus has already given us all the spiritual blessings that we have need off, and we need to praise the Lord even when we don’t feel like it.
Jeremiah 33v3 says ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ Many might try to justify their asking and ‘give me’ attitude by saying that God will answer when they call to him. However, we need to know the difference between ‘Call’ and ‘Ask’. Calling to God means we acknowledge Him. We acknowledge Him as our Father in heaven. Calling to God means we declare His goodness, and we declare His name. When we don’t differentiate call and ask, we will soon wonder why God does not seem to be answering us.
The second thing that we need to do is ‘to do what we need to do’. We need to carry out what God wants us to do, and commit the rest to Him. To be successful women of God, we need to follow through with God. Thus, we need to make a choice to trust in what God has for us, there is no turning back.
