WHEN YOU HEAR SOMEBODY KNOCKING, ON YOUR DOOR
YOUR HEAR SOMEBODY CALLING, LOUD AND SURE
BROTHER, IT’LL BE HIM, HE’S BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU
WHEN YOU’RE HAPPY AND YOU’RE SAD WHY YOU DIDN’T KNOW!
THEN YOU’RE LAUGHING AND CRYING AND YOU DIDN’T SHOW
BROTHER, TURN TO HIM, HE’S BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU
GONNA SEARCHING IN THE MOUNTAINS, WHERE THE SOULS ARE FEW
GONNA LOOKING IN THE CITIES, FOR PEOPLE JUST LIKE ME AND YOU!
IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SHOOTING DOWN, FROM THE STARS
AND YOU SEE A ROCKET SHIP ON ITS WAY TO MARS
BROTHER, IT’LL BE HIM, HE’S BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU!
Song: He’s been looking for you
Adapted from “It’ll be me”

We can recall that every one of us, who responded to the call of the Lord, opened our doors at some stage of our lives. It seems to me that it does not matter when; it is a personal decision that one has to make at some stage of their lives. I asked the Lord into my life soon after I had graduated from the university. But I had known about the redemption of Jesus Christ for quite a long time before that.
Somehow, when I was younger, I had not understood as much as I did and there was little pressure on me then to make an important decision to accept the salvation of Christ. I recalled that my neighbour’s son was only eight years of age when we witnessed him walked on his own to the front of the pulpit when the invitation to receive Christ was given. It is amazing that one’s heart desire through the prompting of the Holy Spirit does not make any distinction of how much older one has to be to clearly understand and then to respond to the calling of the Lord.
When your friends find out that when “you are happy and you are sad, why you did not know!” and “then you are laughing and crying and you did not show!” well, they will certainly conclude that you must be wonky or something (!) and then quickly shove you off to see the psychiatrist! People will seek medical advice from the psychiatrist when they are unhappy and confused about their lives and want someone to explain it to them. It does not make sense that many people remain unhappy or dissatisfied despite the fact that they have achieved all that they have set themselves to do and also acquired all the things they wanted to have in life. The psychiatrist can advise you plenty but everything else is very much up to you. My colleague from university who is a psychiatrist but not a Christian once told me that he actually believes in the Bible! In fact, I learned that he consults the Bible regularly to help him to give the right medical advice for his patients!
In John 4:14, which talks about the meeting of Jesus and the Samaritan woman in Jacob’s well, Jesus said: –
“… but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the I water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life!”
Jesus, the Creator of heaven and earth, has precisely explained to us that we are not just ‘earth beings’ but also ‘God beings’. We are created in the image of God, and for His pleasure. I truly believe that the fallout of the human race from God because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve had since left an unfinished hollow or vacuum in all our hearts. No matter what immeasurable bounties our rich world can reward us, it will never be able to fill this intrinsic emptiness in us. We must have been tapping from the wrong source to find happiness. We are drinking the water of this world instead of asking to be quenched permanently by the springs of eternal life that only Jesus Christ can provide! We will quickly realize that as soon as we receive God’s salvation through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we have restored our relationship with our Creator again. It is this intimate relationship with God in life that enables us to make sense out of seeming nonsense about our feelings of happiness. Sometimes, even when we often believe that the rationale of our daily agenda seems too difficult to achieve, we can continue to do it with purpose because we are now working for Him and not for ourselves.
“Gonna searching in the mountains, where the souls are few
Gonna looking in the cities, for people just like me and you
If you see something shooting down, from the stars
And you see a rocket ship on its way to Mars,
Brother, it’ll be Him, He’s been looking for you!”
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me” (Revelations 3:20).
Without a single exception, Jesus has been knocking at everyone’s door without fail. He will pass by unless we respond to his call and open our doors to welcome Him in. I believe that His divine calling has been sounded in all our hearts for a very long time – virtually from the time when we are big enough to understand till the time when we lie on our deathbed. Our loving and merciful Lord has always been searching the mountains and the busy cities for souls to rescue from the devil.
I think in the distant future when there would perhaps be human beings inhabiting the planet of Mars or maybe even the remotest stars, there Jesus will be! These people who have even left the earth can be assured that they will not be overlooked nor will they escape from the salvation of the Lord!
