Power of Fasting

During his final session, Bro Phillip Yong commended Ps Julius Suubi’s right to speak about Intercession and Effective Fervent Prayer because “He is a practitioner.” “We want to see great and mighty things happen,” he said, thanking Kuching Ministers Fellowship, Full Gospel Businessmen, Kuching, and everyone for their support and prayers.

“To see God’s purpose established in Kuching, you need to spend a lot of time praying for this city,” Ps Suubi said to the people. “I sense a power of darkness controlling this city,” he said. It quenches the passion in people’s lives. You rise to a certain level but hit a ceiling and cannot breakthrough.

 

 

“That is what came in my spirit as I was interceding,” he said. Things may look well, but in the realm of the spirit, there’s a force.

How can we raise up a spiritual platform so we can have revival and transformation? “We cannot stop at a revival, it rarely lasts 5 years. Transformation goes on forever because it is very powerful,” he added.

Ps Suubi called the crowd for the special session that evening about the power of fasting. “I felt very pressed in my spirit to teach about the 40 day fast because the Lord wants to do something,” he said.

There’s a price because fasting has unstoppable power. “You are not a human being, you are a superhuman. You have a super. The super was added to the human when you are with Jesus, mind and spirit,” he said.

Many fasted in the bible. The one-day fast, like the Prophet Ezra, is to give divine direction. He was blessed with so much gold and asked God to show the way that never had robbers. You need to spend time in the presence of the Lord the whole day to get divine direction. Create an atmosphere to get a divine direction. The one-day fast is powerful for divine direction.

There is the three-day fast. Esther fasted three days without water or food and God broke the plot of the enemy. According to Ps Suubi, he had seen God performed miracles several times with the three-day fast. “The three-day fast is very powerful,” he said and joked, “I never died fasting.”

 

 

The 21-day fast, like Daniel, is fasting only on fruits and vegetables. “Not fried! But boiled,” he said. This produces a lot of results because this is a spiritual warfare fast. It breaks the power of darkness, especially in breaking the spirit of delay or spirit of ‘tunda’. The spirit of delay is a dangerous spirit.

“The devil is not as weak as everyone speaks,” he said. The devil cannot stop what the Lord has ordained for you but he can delay your answer. What you’re supposed to get this year, you get it 10 years later. “Put on your lion face, the spirit face of warfare,” he added. There is a force resisting you not getting the breakthrough. The breakthrough has to come, but it came too late for you to enjoy.

You are not violent, forceful and confrontational. You are a diplomat. This is not the UN. We are in warfare; our weapon is not only defensive but also offensive. “It is God’s desire for you to be blessed when you are still strong, not when you are 150 years old!” he told. Joseph became prime minister at 30, David became king at 30, Jotham at 25, Jehoshaphat at 34 and Jesus began his ministry at 30.

“We have to pray aggressively, violently. Put on faces of lions. We need to be warriors,” he said. David was a great worshipper, but he was also a warrior. David changes his face of a worshipper to a face of a warrior. He has the boldness of a lion, worshipper on one side, and warrior on the other.

“You cannot be a warrior and not be a worshipper,” he said. How are you going to connect to God if you are not a worshipper? Stop being diplomatic with the devil!

The 40-day fast signifies a new beginning. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights in the days of Noah. Why didn’t God destroy the earth in one day? He uses process. When you fast 40 days, the heaven will open. Spiritual rain will reign over your life. On a personal level, you will begin to deal with demonic powers in your life.

In Mark 9, Jesus called the demons ‘these kinds’. They do not go away except by prayer and fasting. Some demons are so strong; they cannot easily leave your church, city or life because they have been around for many years.

 

 

You need the Holy Ghost to spray for 40 days, referring to the weevil (a type of plant) that needed 40 days of continuous spraying to be destroyed, not 39 days. There is a depth in God that changes the impossible. “If you want to see what you have not seen, you must do what you’re never done,” Ps Suubi said.

Genesis 9: 9 tells, “When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the Lord had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water.”

From Genesis to the end, no one has seen the handwriting of God. Forty days will release you into something you have never experience. Moses was the first man to see the handwriting of God, at the end of 40 days, not in the middle. He saw what he has never seen.

“There is a new glory, anointing. We see what we have never seen or heard. When we go deeper in God we will see miracles,” he said.

Even in the realm of the spirit, there are anchovy’s miracles in the shallow waters. The sharks and tilapias do not dwell in the shallow waters. You get it in the deep; there are risks in the deep. “We need to go to the deep water,” he said. Tsunami begins in the deep. You can bring tsunami to crush (the devil) but you’re not getting tsunami eating dim sum.

“There must be someone willing to lay their lives for Kuching. The 40-day fast brings unusual breakthrough,” he continued. In Luke 4:1, Jesus was full of the Holy Ghost, but He had no power. Luke 4:14, He was not just full of the Holy Ghost, but with power.

We have the Holy Spirit when we first accept Christ, but no power. The power comes with prayer. There is power inside of you, but it is potential power. Potential power is kinetic, it does not electrocute people. Jesus is Holy Spirit and power.

The 40-day fast activates supernatural power. The process takes time with God and deeper relationship with God. There is power in fasting. When you fast, you need to pray and read the word of God.

Ps Suubi later prayed for the pastors to be anointed with the spirit of unity. Each of the 400 over people also got prayed for by all the church pastors. The session ended with celebration of dancing and rejoicing.
