Kuching – Over 4000 youths gathered for the Revo Miri 2013 concert for two nights on April 12 and 13 at the Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club Musical Corridor in Miri, Sarawak.
The Christian movement, according to Revo Miri 2013 advisor, Pastor Andy Anyi from SIB On the Rock, Miri, is “to touch our community and inculcate the love of Christ.” In a phone interview, Pastor Andy said the concert was to impact the community and share the love of Christ.
“This generation is lacking of love. There is no love from parents. The concert or music is one way to reach out to young people; by the music,” he said.
Rev Kenneth Chin from Acts Church, Kuala Lumpur shared with the crowd during the concerts. In his message, Rev Chin shared about being on fire for God.
John in Matthew 3:11 said, “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
Rev Chin talked about being baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire, how to receive the fire of God and how to connect with God. He also said we should be hot with love and excited for God.
“The event is to encourage youths from all churches and allowing them to continue in their respective churches,” said Pastor Andy.
Hundreds responded to the altar call and about 200 gave their lives to Christ. This event is the fifth Revo Concert in Miri. The event is attended by all denominations and ran as an inter-church youth activity.
Apart from the concert, the two-day event also included the Revo academy; a leadership seminar and practical session held during the day at the BEM (SIB) On the Rock church. About 200 youths joined the seminar. SIB On the Rock is a youth oriented church.
The Revo movement is aimed to encourage the love of Christ through colleges, schools, campuses and communities throughout Malaysia, including Penang, Perak and Kuala Lumpur. Revo Miri 2013 is hosted by Miri Youth Arise Network (MYAN) in collaboration with Asian Youth Ambassadors (AYA) supported by Dream Malaysia.
