“I am a fighter, not for Christ, but against Christ,” said Miau Miau (苗苗). An intellectual debater, she recalled standing up against her high school’s teacher attempt to share the gospel. But now, she is no more a fighter but a lover for Christ. So, what happened?

Miau Lim Chiang Miau (林静苗) is a Malaysian comedian-actress who had been in the entertainment business since 2001. She was recognized recently for her role as “Fatty Girl” in Ah Niu’s “Ice Kacang Puppy Love” in 2010, which bagged the top ten best movies in China. She also won “the best actress” award in 2007 Malaysia 6th Drama Award.

As a child, she had been following her mother faithfully to the temple, even recognized as a devoted disciple of her faith. She also grew up having a bad impression towards Christians because of her encounter with selfish friends who were incidentally Christians as well. Hence, these experiences ignited her repulsion towards Christianity.

Nevertheless, in college, she was invited to and attended a Christian fellowship. Curious, she attended, again asking all types of logical and analytical questions to the leader.

“They could not answer my questions. And I remember feeling victorious because I proved that Christianity is flawed and they are not as great as they think,” said Miau Miau.

But one day, one of her Christian fellowship members sat her down and apologized for not being able to answer all her questions.

“I recalled that she said sorry to me, because although she would like to answer my questions, she did not write the Bible and the Bible cannot be changed to answer me,” said Miau Miau.

And for the first time, she had nothing to argue with except for concurring. That was the beginning of a change of heart.

Meanwhile, she was also worried that her mother could not obtain a business contract. At that time, she was considered as one of the most successful Chinese artistes, owning an acting studio for a kid’s show even before she hit 20 years old.

“I said to God, if you are real, then help my mother get this contract,” said Miau Miau who was surprised that she would turn to God, instead of her previous faith in other gods.

The next few days after the prayer, she was driving on the road while overlooking the clouds in the sky. Suddenly, she saw a cloud literally dropped down before her. Feeling an unexplainable joy and peace, she interpreted that as God telling her not to worry about her life because even though the sky would fall on her, He will be there for and with her.

She attended the cell group that same week with a different attitude. And as if her friends knew about what she saw, they asked her if she would like to accept Christ. And she did!

Turned out, her mother did not acquire the business contract about one month after she made the prayer. But she was at peace with it. Nevertheless, depression began to encroach into her life, after about half a year she accepted Christ, without her realizing it. Her entertainment business was falling and she was not getting enough contracts.

She began to have suicidal thoughts, such as staying underwater in the pool when she ran out of breath and running across the traffic light. But none of her suicidal thoughts turned into real intentions until one day. About two years into depression, she planned to commit suicide.

“I told God that I am tired of life. I said, I know that Father, You do not like it. But I believe that you would come and get me,” said Miau Miau recalling the prayer she made to God during those dark hours.

Having no hope in life, she drafted her goodbye note and planned to jump off the building that very night. Suddenly, she heard an audible tender voice speaking to her, saying, “My daughter, why don’t you come home?”

The next thing, she woke up from the desk in her room, vaguely remembering what happened the night before. But the farewell letter did prove her suicide intention.

Since God’s prompting, her suicidal urges lessened as she slowly recover through prayer and fellowshipping with other believers. Her entertainment business also slowly gained momentum. And now, looking back, she began to understand why her first two years of Christian life were so difficult.

“I could not take stress when I was young. But God has placed me under so much stress that nothing in the entertainment business would unfazed me,” said Miau Miau.

She learned to appreciate success as blessings from God, but also accept failures as parts and parcels of life. She also knew by complete faith, that God is a giver and provider. And she, as an artiste, need not worry about her future, but work in faith and wait for His blessings.

Now, an exuberant, friendly and humble person, it is hard to believe that she was in such a low position before. It was also startling to know that she had hot temper before. Because of her drastic change, a few friends turned to Christ after witnessing the B.C. and A.C of her.

“Sometimes, I feel that God allow people to see the unpleasant side of me, to show them the power of Christ in me when I changed,” said Miau Miau who’s recent quit to smoking led four of her friends to quit as well.

A confident, mature, positive and hilarious woman, she takes life at ease now. What a precious life in God’s sight!

So, whatever happened to your life, please remember that God loves you very much. And there is no mess He cannot turn around to make it beautiful. All He requires of you is to stay faithful and stay with Him, so that you can witness Him turning your life around. Pray and be patient. God’s way and timing is the best!

I also pray that Miau Miau’s powerful testimony would touch many people who do not think that their life is precious. But here, I want to say to you that no matter what people say or think, you are very precious in the sight of God your Father. There’s only one Miau Miau in this world. There is only one you in this world, whom God created.

God Bless you.
