Pastor Suresh Sundram, aged 54, is the Senior Pastor of City Revival Church. Growing up in Penang with a non-Christian background, he shared, "Although I was doing well outwardly for many years, there was no peace in me. My mind was uncontrollable.”
All he knew at a young age was that he needed to obtain that profound peace. Funnily enough, on his journey and search for peace, he even swore that he would never become a Christian. But in his heart, he knew that only Jesus could provide him with what he yearned for.
Mark 10: 27 – Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Life then truly began when he came to know, accept and love Christ in January 1976.
“Jesus saved my life and that’s why I came to love Him and serve Him,” he said.
And from 1978 to 1982, Suresh pursued his studies in Manchester, England where he did his Bachelors and Masters in Engineering.
“There, I involved myself with a very good Christian group called the Navigators, a very strong discipling group who really helped me,” he said.
Overflowing Miracles
A year later, Suresh came back to Malaysia and got married to his lifelong partner Shanthini. For 11 years, he worked as an Engineer with Tenaga Nasional. During this time, he witnessed his first biggest miracle when his wife Shanthini was miraculously healed of a very serious back condition. One of her legs was 2 inches shorter than the other but as she was prayed for, her leg grew two inches!
He said, “Since then, we experienced a lot of miracles. My wife and I knew that there was a call in our life. God had been speaking to us through the Scriptures, inner peace, prophecies, visions, dreams and the counsels of pastors.”

In 1990, he started attending Grace Assembly PJ. And in 1994, he began his work as a Pastor there right until 1999.
“There was a calling for me to become a Pastor, and I really enjoy people,” he said. For a year after that, he travelled as an evangelist all over Malaysia in both Peninsular and the East. His mission was clear and he moved down to Johor to become the Senior Pastor of Calvary Charismatic Church for about 3 years.
By this time, his family had grown bigger as he and his wife were blessed with four children named Rhema, Rhenita, Rheshara, and their newborn named Roshan.
“In Johor Bahru when my son was born, he had a congenital kidney condition but God has touched him and now he’s doing very well!” he said.
A New Church was Born
He returned to Kuala Lumpur and in 2003 he said, “God opened the door for him to plant City Revival Church!”
Genesis 26:18-22
18 Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them.
19 Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there.
20 But the herders of Gerar quarreled with those of Isaac and said, “The water is ours!” So he named the well Esek, because they disputed with him.
21 Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah. 22 He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth saying, “Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land.”
The scripture above spoke to him. With that, the Lord said to him, “Son, dig a new well.” That was one of the reasons he planted City Revival.
“Our whole purpose and passion as a family is to serve the Lord in whatever capacity we can,” he said.
As a family, their heart is to serve the community and touch the city in order to see revival for Jesus. At the beginning of City Revival, God provided miraculously! For a year and a half, their Church rental was paid for by a non-Christian.
Suresh really enjoys being a Pastor as he is full of smiles! He was upbeat and jumped with joy during every praise and worship. When asked about his opinion on the churches in Malaysia, he said, “It’s good to see the churches doing well and being blessed. If we want to touch the nations, we need to rally together, with a single purpose of winning the lost for Jesus.” He also added that he sees a greater unity and prayer among the churches today.
Now, City Revival Church, Subang Jaya has grown to a Church of 350 members and 60 children. Currently, Sunday Services and the Children's Church are held simultaneously at Holiday Villa Subang Jaya while their Prayer and Youth meetings and other events are held at the Church Office in Subang Square Business Centre in SS15 Subang Jaya.
With a strong leadership team, the Church has 18 Cell Groups around Klang Valley and various ministries like Youth, Children, Worship, Ladies, Men, Working Adults, Senior Citizens, Sport, etc. The Community Service arm runs City Revival Boys' and Girls' Homes with future plans to serve the community through care homes, education, sports, medical care, etc. The Church also has an outreach in Kota Bharu – City Revival Kota Bharu. Not to mention, it is also very involved in missions with 10 missions partners in 9 different countries (Thailand, Burma, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Philippines, India, Canada and Nigeria)
