Friday, November 2, 2012 – “We are extraordinary beings,” proclaimed Pastor Giancarlo Elia excitedly to the congregation at City SIB, Kuching, Friday night. Pastor Giancarlo Elia and his wife, Catherine, are from Light to the Nations Ministries, United Kingdom. Pastor Lian Paran led the congregation for the Friday night service.
God put in us so much of himself in us because He wants us to relate to Him. “We have the goodness, compassion, and love of God. We are extraordinary beings, more extraordinary than angels,” he said. He added angels do not participate in the natural world, but we do; God put his spirit in us. He wanted us to enjoy him.
Adam and Eve enjoyed God to the fullness, he said, “so, why did God put that tree?” God wanted Adam and Eve to participate, be in a situation of dependency.
In Genesis 2:19, “Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds in the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was the name.”
God wanted Adam to participate in what He has done. The Father wanted the son to take part in what He’s doing. “He wants to share with us; open up to us in what He does,” said Pastor Giancarlo.
In the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15, he wanted what the father had, but not the father. Like from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam wanted the knowledge, but not God anymore, he exclaimed. He became independent of God. He has become fatherless because he separates himself from the Father; there was no more relationship with God.
Adam and Eve had everything that God had – protected and safe, as long as they are with the Father, he said. Satan hates anyone who has a relationship with the Father, the devil has become fatherless.
“Does God send Adam and Eve out of the garden of Eden to punish them?” he asked everyone. “No. Remember, there was another tree,” he said. In Genesis 3:22, God sent Adam and Eve out of the garden for our sake. There was no condemnation, only pain in the heart of the Father. One day that relationship will be restored. “God gave us salvation and redemption; a person who can relate to us,” he added.
In John 3:16, God continued to love the world, He doesn’t stop loving us. Like the prodigal son, the father did not lose hope that we will come back. The father showed compassion, he did not say “I forgive you” – a reminder that he has done wrong. The son was only thinking about food, he was hungry, he added.
God loves us with constant love. “To all those who accept Him, we enter into a relationship with Him and (He) gave them the right to become His children,” he exclaimed. “We were given spiritual adoptions as sons, we call Him ‘Abba Father’,” he added. We enter into a relationship again, replaced into something brand new, born again, new birth, and a new creation.
1 John 3:9, “No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.” He continued adding, like the spirit God first put into Adam, we cannot sin anymore because the seed of God dwells in them. “We carry the seed of God as it was in the beginning. We are the partaker of the divine nature,” he said.
On the day of resurrection, Jesus appeared to Mary and said “go to my brothers”. On the cross, Jesus Christ put the family back together! He’s not ashamed to call us brothers!
The moment I accept Jesus, I become a son in the eye of the Father as much as Jesus is the son, he voiced out. In John 15:9, we have the same love, same family.
We are unique because we are the only one who can receive the Holy Spirit. In Romans 5:5, God gives us His spirit. He pours His love – not generic human love; so, we can love Him back, obey His commands, and rewards us with His presence!
“This is what God has done for us. We are indeed His children and we are not fatherless anymore!” he claimed. How much more will He give us all things? “Life eternal is in us. Resurrection life is already in us. There is no condemnation. Our seat is in heaven. We are partakers of the divine nature, a holy priesthood,” said Pastor Giancarlo. He finished his message by declaring we need revelation and awareness that we are real sons and daughters of God. “We are not separated from God anymore,” he ended.
