Only Believe

“I just love the family of God,” Ps Peter Hack cited on his recent visit to Kuching.  Ps Peter Hack and his team are in Kuching for a mission trip, stopping by his friend Elder Lian Paran’s church, The City SIB to share God’s message.

“If you build together an altar of God in this place, you can see His hand move,” he said. The team from Perth, Western Australia also shared some testimonies with the church.

Sharing from Mark 5: 22-23,

“Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.”

“Sometimes the only way to get your heart is to touch someone you love,” he said. We wonder why things do not go the way we expect. God wants to get your attention.

Jairus was from an anti-charismatic church, and was into the law. He was a leader and a Pharisee. It was embarrassing for him to ask Jesus for healing. It cost him a lot to come to Jesus.

“It’s not about knowing the law, it’s about knowing Jesus. The truth is Jesus Christ. We need the person of the truth,” he said. Jairus humbled himself to come to Jesus.

Mark 5:24 tells, “So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him.”

Jairus was thrilled. Just as he got excited, someone else came and got His attention. The woman pressed in, got healed and the people rejoiced. Jairus’ attention shifts; his excitement had turned to disappointment.

Mark 5:35 continues, “While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

God was so close, but He didn’t come through for me, he thought. “God is usually not early, just in time,” Ps Hack reminded.

In Mark 5:36, people said don’t bother Jesus anymore. Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid, just believe.”

Only believe. Jesus said don’t be afraid. All things are possible. “Fear is the tool of the devil. Even if you are scared, do it scared!”

Do it with courage, we have backup. Believe is adequate. Believe in truth and you will release the power. Speak the Word of faith, resurrection, life, healing into your sickness. Don’t be afraid, only believe.

When Jesus said only believe: First, believe is enough. “Trusting the Word of God is adequate. There is enough power in this (bible),” he said. “It is not just help, it is the answer.” The devil only has one power, to tell lies. “If you believe in the truth, you release the power of God.”

If you think God is not answering your prayer, don’t be afraid, just believe. It’s enough.

Second, don’t add anything to your faith. “Don’t run around in your own strength,” he said. Mary was right. She chose the best place, the feet of Jesus. Allow His love to wash over us. Martha was running around.

Mark 5:37 says, “He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.”

Jesus brought faith, hope and love. Surround yourself with people who believe. We are like the prophet Ezekiel, to prophesy to the dry bones. God put His spirit in you to speak words of faith into your dry bones.

“When the spirit of God in you mixes with the Word of God, it is prophetic,” he said. “Prophesy is not just declaring the future, it speaks the future.” Life of the spirit comes into you. God wants you to speak the word of life.

Jesus puts out all the people who are unbelief.

In Mark 5:40, “But they laughed at him.” The enemy will laugh at you. But in Mark 5: 41, “He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).”

Jesus said to you, little child, arise. You are a little child to Jesus.

There is no such thing as a perfect father, but we all have a heavenly Father. We get our self-image from God the Father. The perfect love casts out fears. We need to be totally surrounded and saturated in the Father’s love.

That fear drives out fear. The Word of God comes out of the relationship with the Father, he said. Son, arise! If you think Jesus passes you by, don’t be afraid, just believe. Get rid of the mockers. “It is time to wake up, get up and get going. Jesus is here.”

The session continued with healing and praying. Ps Peter Hack and his team from Perth, Western Australia were in Kuching for a few days, heading to Indonesia on Tuesday. We are praying for God to find ways for the village people to prosper, he said.

Ps Hack who was in Africa last year, also talked about their network of pastors and leaders, where they encourage, empower and pray together. Ps Hack also said he will be returning to Africa this year. The mission works by empowering some of the village farmers and allowing God to show how to use the resources given.

Ps Peter Hack is from Cornerstone Church, Perth, Western Australia.
