Pr Ron Hee of New Life Restoration Church (NLRC) in PJ started the first service of the year with FOUR ways to be a fruitful disciple.
1. Rely on Jesus as your Barrier Breaker
“There are many dreams inside of us but the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. God is a God who desires to give us life and life in abundance,” said Pr Ron.
Although sometimes we stand in front of a mountainous barrier, the Bible says that we shall not overcome these barriers by our own might or power, but by the Spirit of Jesus Christ! Psalm 20:7 says, ‘Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.’
When Jesus was crucified along with the dreams to revive Israel and Jerusalem, his disciples were walking with a down-casted heart towards Emmaus. But after Jesus revealed himself to them, His presence set their dreams on fire again and they headed back to Jerusalem right away.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord., “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” (Psalm 91:14-15)
2. Live in the Light
A fruitful disciple must live in light. The first step to living in the light is to be honest with the hidden sins in our lives. How many of you know that God has set a divine purpose for each of our lives?
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)
3. Make disciples in the Marketplace
A fruitful disciple begets disciple. And Pr Ron felt that the goal of the church this year is to make disciples in the marketplace.
“The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will empower you to be a witness to testify what God has done in your life. The glory of God has risen in you, and this glory within you will attract people to you,” said Pr Ron.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)
NLRC has developed a testimony-sharing kit for their church members to print and share their testimony with pre-believers. One who used the kit was sis Chan Lai Lai who came on-stage to share her printed testimony.
She shared how she was prompted to search for the one true God, when her father passed away. Finally, in a dream, God revealed Himself through a bright light, where she kept on calling the name ‘Jesus.’ Her life was transformed after she accepted Christ, where God blessed her with a few work promotions. Recently, she has also became a cell leader and learned to play the piano.
“Everyone of us has a testimony to share. Do you know that if one believer brings just one person per year, we can impact 8.6 billion people in the whole world?” said Pr Ron. If every church member in NLRC brings three persons to the Lord each year, they would be able to reach out to 1000 people in that year.
The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly. (Isaiah 60:22)
Pr Ron also shared about how a vineyard owner changed his company culture, from allowing his workers to drink prior to working, to promoting a healthy non-alcoholic lifestyle after he accepted Christ. The owner also believed in his heart that all his staffs would come to Christ. And at the end, they all did!
“Brothers and sisters, I want you to expand your influence. Many people have limited our influence so much that we think it’s so difficult to influence somebody. But God says step into your workplace. Begin to envisage, then the whole workplace would come,” said Pr Ron.
He also shared how a top executive of an oil company, was surprised to find why the book of wisdom—The Bible—is not preached and used all over the world. Although the executive was respected for his wisdom at work, it was the wisdom imparted by the Bible, which saved his breaking marriage.
“Because you have been raised up in church, you have the wisdom that the world needs. Let’s study management principles based on the book of Proverbs,” said Pr Ron.
4. Live in God’s presence daily
We must also learn to live in God’s presence daily by keeping a good appetite for God. “This year, in one of my other journals, I made this resolution—I want to make this a pilgrimage to seek for God because the Bible says, ‘If you seek Me, you will find Me,’” said Pr Ron.
…for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. (Psalm 107:9)
I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. (Psalm 81:10)
You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. (Psalm 16:11)
