John 6:35 NIV

“I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

THE BIBLICAL WAY OF APPROACHING A DESPERATE SITUATION

One of the most significant miracle of Jesus Christ is the feeding of the 5000 (Mark 6:30-44). He took one little boy’s lunch and was able to feed 5000 hungry people. This story is all about how God multiplies a little into a huge sum. You need to know this principle because many times in your life you need to understand how God can turn a little of what you have by multiplying it to bless you.

Do you believe that everything starts small? Rome was not build in a day. An empire did not come into existence overnight. Everything started from small. Every business, every building, even a human life has to grow from a child into a man.

In other words our God is in the business of multiplication and increase. That’s the reason why we call Him “a miracle working God.”

It is an undeniable fact, many times in our lives we need God to work out great things supernaturally for us. Now, you may ask how does God turn a little into a lot? That’s what this story or miracle is all about. Every miracle Jesus did is not to impress people but to teach us a spiritual truth. The feeding of the 5000 is to show us how God can turn a little into a lot. This miracle is so important that it is the only time this miracle is recorded in the four Gospels of Matthew, Luke, Mark and John. I believe all four authors of the Gospel were so impacted and impressed by this massive miracle that they couldn’t help recording it in all the four gospels. You know what? Anytime when God tells us something four times He is obviously trying to draw our special attention to it.

He is apparently teaching us some very important spiritual principles that we need to take note of.

Jesus is out there in the wilderness teaching and preaching and healing the sick to about 5000 men. He has been teaching all day and when evening came they were faced with a need to feed the 5000 people. The disciples were indirectly trying to tell Jesus it’s an impossible situation at hand therefore let us send the people  away but Jesus told them “you give them something to eat.” (Mark 6:37).

Here is what we need to understand before a miracle takes place.

5 spiritual principles or 5 keys that you need to understand before a miracle takes place.

1) I AM FACING AN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATION

If you want God to bring about a supernatural miracle in your life, you need to acknowledge that you have an impossible problem at hand. I must admit that I am facing an impossible problem! Listen! If you don’t have an impossible problem, why would you need a miracle? If you can fix a problem all by your own strength and your own clever idea you don’t need God to help you, right!? You can solve it by yourself.

The Bible says in Mark 6:34-37 when Jesus saw the large crowd he had compassion. Many of us don’t receive a miracle in our lives because we are too proud to acknowledge we have an impossible problem at hand. Instead we sweep this problem under the rug and we stay there all our life stagnant and getting nowhere. We waste away a life God has given us! Because we are too proud to admit that we have an unsolvable problem at hand.  We are too proud to cry out to God for help.

Jesus told the disciples they don’t need to go away, you feed them. I guess the disciples must have been petrified when Jesus told them to feed the 5000 people.  You see the problem with the disciples is that despite being with Jesus, despite witnessing the miracles that Jesus did yet they had a fixed opinion about how things operate in the natural. They were insensitive to the supernatural power at their disposal.

Besides they forgot that they were standing with the son of God who holds all things together in His power.

“He is the image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,” (Colossians 1:15)

It’s interesting to note that God always have the answer before I even know the problem. In your life God always have the answer before you even know what the problem is you are going to encounter.

Here is a question I want to ask you today. Has God ever asked you to do something impossible?  Something beyond your capacity? You know what? Faith is always trusting in the impossible. Faith is always walking in the impossible. That is the reason why God will always challenge you to do something beyond your ability. That’s what faith is! That’s what trust is! God doesn’t test our faith and trust, so that He wants us to fall on our faces! God tests our faith and trust so that we may grow and grow to become stronger each day. That’s why He tests our faith and trust in Him.

Don’t be surprised! God will always give you an assignment that is bigger than your ability. Something that will cost you more than you can afford. You will notice in the life of Moses, Jeremiah and several others in the Bible that they were always challenged with the impossible. It is only by stretching your faith you can walk into the supernatural!  It is only by stretching your faith you can walk into your miracle!

2) GIVE GOD WHAT LITTLE YOU ALREADY HAVE

He told the disciples to go and look if anybody has any food with them. A little boy came up with 5 little loaves and 2 fish. Isn’t it strange out of 5000 people only one boy brought lunch? I am absolutely sure there were many others who would have also brought food out there but unfortunately they were not willing to share but this little boy came forward with his lunch packet.

The question is why did Jesus do this? Why did he want to know how many people could bring their lunch out? Here is a principle. There were others who were holding their seed in their hands. They were not willing to share and give it away. This is the whole problem with people today they hold the seed in their hands and are not willing to give it away. And they stay stagnant all through their lives.

3)GOD ALWAYS STARTS WITH WHAT I HAVE

It may not be much but I want to give it to God. I may not have much talent but I want to give it to God! I may not have much time but I want to give it to God!  I don’t have much money but I want to give it to God. I may be a very insignificant unimportant person in this world but I want to give God everything of my life. My soul, my heart my reputation, my dignity, it isn’t much, Lord, but I give it to you. It isn’t much, Lord! but I am going to give you my 5 loaves and 2 fish. I know there are others who are hiding it and they are not willing to share but I don’t care about that I am willing to give my lunch to you!

I put it all in the hands of Jesus. Mark 6:41; Jesus took the 5 loaves and 2 fish and broke and blessed them…

4) GOD WILL USE WHATEVER I  AM WILLING TO GIVE HIM AND PUT IT IN HIS HANDS

It may not be much but it doesn’t matter at all!  The question is you willing to give? When I give it to God He will bless it and make it useful to others. This little boy gave willingly, he gave cheerfully, and he gave immediately. Just imagine 5000 people, all were hungry but this boy came forward.  I am sure he was hungry too! But willingly, cheerfully and immediately he came and said “here is what I have got, take it” without hesitation.  This little boy gave and it blessed 5000 hungry people. He thought about others.

4th. Key to a miracle:  EXPECT GOD TO MULTIPLY WHAT YOU SOW

Whatever I have, when I put whatever little I have in the hands of Jesus, I expect God to multiply it.

Notice what happens in Mark 4:46;” Everybody eat and had enough and afterwards they collected 12 basketful of left overs“. 5000 people were well fed and 12 baskets full of food were left over. It’s a mind-boggling miracle.

What is God teaching us today? He gave 5 loafs of bread and 2 fish and God used that little portion to multiply and fed 5000 hungry people with 12 baskets full of left-overs and I am sure they would have carried  some  home after they have eaten and be filled.

5.) Here is a 5th principle for a miracle: WHATEVER I GIVE I ALWAYS GET BACK MORE.

When you give whatever little you have to bless others you will always get back more than you gave. Yes! It is true, you cannot outgive God! Here is a principle you need to pick up. God likes to do miracles through people. So often we wait for God to do miracles for us but God wants to do miracles through us. How does He do that? He wants you to be a participant of your miracle.

Mark 10:27: All things are possible with God.

The Bible says; is anything too hard for God?

John 12:24

Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it dies, it bringeth forth much fruit.

One seed will remain as it is in your hands indefinitely. But when you give it away and throw it into the ground it will produce much fruit. And inside the fruit there will be more seeds to produce more fruits.

If you keep your seed and eat it by yourself it will just last you for a day. But when you let go and give it away and throw it to the ground it will last you for a life time.
