The Lord Looks Down From Heaven For Those Who Seek Him

“The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God” (Psalm 14:2).

Gereja Kasih Karunia Tuhan, is a church planted by One Voice Ministries in Tg. Keruing, a village located in Pekan, Pahang Darul Makmur. It was planted in February 2014. It is a growing church and God is manifesting Himself to the villagers there in a very real way. To those who seek Him with a pure heart, He reveals Himself.

This church is located in a village where the Jakun people group live. In Malaysia, there are 3 major groups of Orang Asli, namely the Negrito, Senoi and Proto-Malay. Each group has 6 different tribes of Orang Asli origin. The Jakun come under the Proto-Malay grouping.

Nikri is the son of Mohamad, our village head. His is a powerful testimony of God reaching out and making Himself known to those who seek Him with a pure heart.

All the time that we use to go to the village for ministry, Nikri never used to come to church, although he used to be at home and occasionally join us for lunch. So it was a surprise to us when on one of the Sundays that we were there, he decided to accept our invitation to join us for service. He sat quietly, listening attentively to the message being shared.

As I was ending the message that Sunday, I made it a point to close by sharing about how real Jesus is and if we open our hearts to Him, He will reveal Himself to us. After all it is through God’s will that all should come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, as it was stated in 1 Peter 2:3-4;

“This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth”.

This was my desire for Nikri, as I believed he was drawn to come by the Holy Spirit. We then returned as usual to KL from Pahang, where the village is located.

A month later when we returned to the village again for ministry, something had happened to Nikri. There he was sitting in church!! There was a smile painted on his face and his demeanour suggested something intriguing had happened. So, in talking to the church members, I asked if anyone had a testimony to share.

Nikri said that he had one to share. Apparently, after the Sunday service the previous month, he was at home and talking to his cousin. Each of them were sharing about how difficult life had been, sharing and discussing things that had transpired in their lives. They then turned in for the night.

Suddenly in the wee hours of the morning, Nikri was awakened from his sleep by a bright light that filled his room. He could see a figure standing before him, right in the midst of the light. He related, “Strangely, I was not afraid or fearful while all of this was happening. By this I knew that it was not an evil spirit that stood before me. Then I heard a voice speaking to me saying, ‘Do not be afraid, for I am always with you.’”

“There was a peace that filled my heart at that moment”, Nikri recounted. I knew and realised through this that it was none other than Jesus revealing Himself to me…the same Jesus that I had heard about in church! Today I came to church because now I believe that Jesus is real!”

Ever since then Nikri has been faithfully coming to church. A few months later, he got married. Nikri and his wife Suhaida now attend church. Suhaida too, like the other Jakun people. practiced animism as her belief. It was just a few weeks of her coming to church with her husband, that she accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Saviour. They were both water-baptised a month later together with other new believers. The Lord has since blessed them with a son, Nikkie Daniel.

This testimony reveals to us that Jesus will reveal Himself to those who seek Him in the simplicity of their faith. Whether a person lives in the city or a village, as long as they seek God with all their heart, He will make Himself known to them. Such is the heart of God for those who have yet to become His children!
