Rev Eli Hernandez is a renowned evangelist gifted by God in the ministries of healing and prophecy. In his 26 years of ministry, he has preached to hundreds of thousands of people in 54 countries.
Recently, he visited Malaysia and a 3-night series of Healing and Restoration gatherings was held at Wisma MCA, organized by Gospel Lighthouse Church. For the first 2 nights, God employed him to deliver healing to many Malaysians. On the 3rd night, however, Rev Eli stressed on the importance of the baptism in the fire of the Holy Spirit.
‘For the previous 2 nights, our Almighty God has been healing people in this sanctuary. Tonight, however, I feel in my spirit that God wants to stress on the baptism of the Holy Spirit and on its importance,’ Rev Eli conveyed on the 3rd night.
Referring to Matthew 3:11 in which John the Baptist presaged the coming of the Messiah and One who is greater than all prophets beforehand, Rev Eli imparted that the day of the Highway of the Lord is coming very soon.
‘John the Baptist was referring to the One who baptizes not with water but with the Holy Spirit and fire. The word of God tells us that He will be coming again. It does not say maybe. It does not say perhaps. The word of God says He shall. For the rich and the poor, for the powerful and the humble, for the sick and the healthy, for the educated and the illiterate. He shall!’
Matthew 3:11
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Rev Eli got across that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not merely a suggestion. It is a surety. And not just a surety, when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, it will be in totality. He will burn away everything that is not of God. All the bondages; the insecurities, loneliness, pride, idolatry and all the others. All the chaff will be burned off with an unquenchable fire.
‘When He comes, He will burn away all that is not right in your lives. Do not hold on to pride. Do you know why Lucifer fell? You don’t want pride in you,’ he communicated.
Matthew 3:12
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
However, unlike normal fire that comes to destroy and kill, the fire of the Holy Spirit comes like a mighty wind of redemption and restoration. The fire of the Holy Spirit does not torch, it delivers. And the healing that it delivers goes beyond more than the physical.
It is the same mighty wind from Acts 2 that transformed the disciples from timid men into mighty men of God. It is the mighty wind that will bring multitudes into a complete, total restoration with God through Christ. This mighty wind will unite the Body of Christ as One, no matter which part of the world you’re in.
Rev Eli recounted many testimonies he has seen from his ministries all over the world. In parts of Africa, thousands of people would travel hours just to go to a makeshift shack to worship and pray to God, and the presence of God would fall upon them.
‘People in many parts of the world are too comfortable. These people walked for miles just to be able to gather together to worship God. When the Spirit of God comes upon you, you cannot stand! People broke down in tears, crying in repentance, and falling into deep worship. One by one they by the thousands were slain in the Spirit.
‘You think the Chinese are unemotional people? In far-flung parts of China, the Holy Spirit has brought many people to know God,’ he shared. No matter which part of the world you are in, no place is too remote for the Holy Spirit, and everywhere the Spirit goes, people respond with the same joy and release. Even the Chinese that were thought to be unemotional broke into dances of joy, tears, and deep worship.
All over the world, the Holy Spirit is reconciling massive amounts of people unto a complete restoration with God. What an awesome God we know, full of might but also full of mercy and grace! How does the gift of the Holy Spirit come upon a person? Our minds are so full of questions sometimes. It is by placing complete faith upon the Living God and His word. When the baptism of fire comes, all questions leave, Rev Eli said.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not about mere religion. It is not about nice music. We must repent before God of our own self-will and agenda. When we pray before God, pray in the Spirit; not religiously, but out of a sincere and genuine heart of worship and honour before God. ‘We must lift our prayers up before God as incense unto Him.’
Rev Eli led the whole congregation in a prayer of repentance. This, he explained, would make a highway for the Lord as John the Baptist had called for. Rev Eli then opened the altar for people to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God came mightily among the worshippers as the hall filled with earnest cries of prayer and shouts of Hallelujah. Over the 3 nights, at least 180 believers received the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
