The circumstances of our choices often rely on the decisions we make from the knowledge that has been given to us. In this case, know that God has given us the gift of choice, and a map and a principle for wise living (the Bible) to follow so that we never go astray. We could have easily been made to be robot-like, one whose thoughts are controlled. But instead, God gave us a choice or a free will, and it is considered as a gift because He loves us.
I call heaven and earth as witness this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live. (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Life could be compared to a road. We often face long and short roads, rocky and smooth roads, as well as straight and winding roads. There are even times when we might fall off our path and end up lost. It is so unpredictable that one would believe that there are probably no guarantees in life, that the end is the end. There are a world of choices that we can make that can lead us to a variety of different paths but be rest assured that you do have a guarantee in Christ. A life guaranteed in Christ refers not to just the physical life but to blessings and favour in all its dimensions.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)
God wants you to put your trust in Him; He wants you to know that He is able to make your paths straight and lead you to eternity. Our thoughts are unlimited and so are our dreams, and that is why one should never limit their thoughts because there is an abundant of great possibilities that lay ahead of you. Choosing life is a daily decision, therefore we need to choose wisely.
We are not God. We do not know the future but based on His teachings and the advice from our friends and loved ones, we can often project how things may work out. That is why it is wise to pray without ceasing, to seek God in all that you do and to keep your loved ones close because He often speaks to you through them. Truly who can we trust more than God?
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (Ephesians 5:15-17)
When it seems like you have No Choice….
One thing you need to remember is that you always have a choice! You can choose to cheat, lie, and steal, but at the end of the day, you have to deal with the consequences of your doings; that is the law that has been placed into this world. Often, people believe that they do not have a choice but to sin, but that is false. The enemy wants you to believe that you are limited, weak, and that you do not have a choice in the things you do. The power of choice affects your destiny. You are strong in Christ though choosing God’s way may be hard at times. God’s way may seem restricting but the truth is that His path is the path to freedom. Obey God and send your worries to Him is often one of the things that is most often said by Christians and that stands as the smartest decision one could ever make when faced with choices.
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32)
When we walk with God and choose Him, our burdens become light and we suddenly realise that we do not have to face the world alone. No one follows you into this world or is able to leave with you but Christ can. Hence, know that even when circumstances do not seem to be going right, good things will turn for our good.
The power of choice is not a myth! It is the truth! When you allow God to enter your life, you will in return receive and be able to experience the freedom that no other choice can equal. Make it a daily choice to seek the Lord.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
