Psalm 8 – How Majestic Is Your Name
(Meditation written by Li Sze Chow)
Psalm 8 describes the majesty of God who created heaven and earth. We are insignificant when compared to God and His creation. We are just an “ant” before the world’s ultimate giant, the Almighty God. Yet, He made us only a little lower than the angels. He put us in charge of His creation and crown us with His glory and honor. God has graciously given us dominion above all His creation on earth. We are undeserving recipients of His love. It also wrote that the praises of children move God to protect them from the enemies. We need to have a childlike faith to walk closer with God without reservation.
Psalm 8
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
human beings that you care for them?
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Let’s pray,
Dear Heavenly Father, we praise You and thank You for this beautiful world that You created for us. We are so privileged that among all the creation, You care for us most. We should not take pride in our self-achievement, but humble before the Creator of the Universe. We remember all Your goodness and the blessing that You pour into our lives. Give us a childlike faith to trust in You and walk with You closely every day, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
