Several Melaka churches in collaboration with a church in Negeri Sembilan organised “Perayaan Muhibah Krismas Melaka” on Saturday, 20th December 2025. This joint Christmas celebration, the first in Melaka in recent years, was indeed a divine favour as it was also supported by the Melaka Tourism Board, the Melaka City Hall, and the state government.

The open-air stage was set up in a place known as the Red Square, in the heart of Melaka city. Five centuries ago, the Portuguese Catholic missionaries had first brought the Gospel to Melaka and built a fort in that area. Later, the Dutch came and built a Reformed Church which was renamed Christ Church when the British government took over it.

The organisers took about one month to plan and work on this project. Despite the short preparation period, churches were supportive to contribute various presentations. The programme included caroling by Hope Church Melaka, Portuguese folk dance from the Portuguese Settlement, the musical Christmas show by Kingdomcity, solo violin performance, Tamil youth dance by Dunamis Sanctuary, tambourine dance and interactive dance by Gemencheh Orang Asli, Korean dance by a local Korean church, acoustic guitar performance by Hope Church, singing in Mandarin and caroling by Bethany church. Christians were there to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to share the joy of their salvation because of the first coming of our Lord Jesus Christ who later died on the cross to redeem mankind.

Despite the rainy season, God granted a fine weather throughout the presentation even though there was a short interval of downpour. The crowd was even bigger after the rain. The event attracted people who had been informed of the programme as well as local and international tourists who were passing by the area.
