The FGA Easter and 36th Anniversary celebration started off with great enthusiasm and excitement for God, and ended on an even higher note! Themed “Moving Forward As One,” over 10 thousand FGA members from all over the Klang Valley came together as one church at the Bukit Jalil Putra Indoor Stadium on Sunday April 12, to commemorate 36 years of God’s faithfulness and abundant blessings.
Over the past 36 years, FGA has grown and expanded into multiple services on Saturdays and Sundays in English, Chinese, and other languages, and has planted satellite churches in Cheras, Serdang, Kepong, Selayang, USJ, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Setapak, Rawang, and Kajang, as well as outreach churches in Sungai Besar, Hutan Melintang, and Sungai Ruan.
Their ministry has touched thousands of lives around Malaysia and is now reaching beyond the borders of our country!
“Moving forward as one—Repeat after me!” Elder Ng Soon Gan said in his keynote address. “The theme encapsulates the dreams of our FGA Oversight so that we can move together in unity in the days ahead to make disciples for the Lord Jesus Christ!”
He then called all the Elders to join him on the stage as they prayed together for the future of their church. “We declare in the name of Jesus that in the years ahead, we shall move forward as one—united in heart, united in spirit, and united in might to be your instrument for the Kingdom of God for a time like this in Malaysia.” Elder Ho Kien Keong prayed. “We shall stand as the body of Christ in FGA to be a light that will not be hidden, salt that will not lose it’s taste, and a people that will be empowered by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
William Thomas then prayed in Tamil, Kenny Low in Malay, and Elder Wong Ah Chiew in Chinese. A special moment followed the keynote address and prayers, in which the co-founder of FGA, Elder Ang Chui Lai, was honored and celebrated in conjunction with his 87th birthday.
The official celebration of FGA’s 36th Anniversary then commenced, kicking off with some incredible performances, balloons, confetti, banners, and a video of their theme song, “Moving As One”. Complete with rap solos in Chinese, Malay, Tamil, and English, the song and video captured the vision of their church to move forward as one body in the days and years ahead.
Ps. Phillip Mantofa of Mawar Sharon Church then gave a sermon about unity as a church and how important it is that the younger generation is groomed into leadership even now. Hundreds of young people responded to his call to serve the Lord with their lives, and the service ended with an encore from the worship team.
After the celebration, everyone was invited to stay back for a carnival that was a combined effort of the collective FGA body. Over 100 stalls circled the stadium. All sorts of delicious foods and drinks were sold, people were able to pamper themselves to blind massages and other services, play games, participate in numerous fun activities, and even do a little bit of shopping!
Indeed, when God’s children are obedient to Him and give Him all the praise and glory, He will dwell in their house and bless them richly with His grace and mercy. The last 36 years has been quite a journey for FGA and as they press forward with a renewed determination to bring the gospel to those in their communities, we pray along with them that the Lord will use them in mighty ways!
