City Revival Church recently held a miracle healing service at Holiday Villa, Subang, where Pastor Suresh Sundram and his wife Shantini prayed and prophesized over the congregation and pronounced healing to all who were in need. Many attended the service where Suresh preached about the miracles Jesus performed. The Lord came to save people, to show compassion to all who needed Him and of course to show them God’s love! What Jesus did yesterday He will do today, and what He does today He will do tomorrow because He is unchanging.
The focus of the sermon was on one extravagant miracle that Jesus performed, and that was the healing of the leper. Leprosy (now known as Hansen’s disease) was the mother of all uncleanness. It caused a slow and painful death to those who suffered from it. Those who were unfortunate to have that disease in those days were completely cut off from their family and ridiculed to isolation. In the old days, they were considered good as dead, as the wife of the man with leprosy was allowed to remarry while the priest gives them a memorial service. You battle hopelessness in your life but what hope did a leper have in those days? All he would have to look forward to was his death day.
Suresh shared that diseases like leprosy cuts you off and brings separation from people but sin cuts you off from God himself! Just like how leprosy’s name has been changed to Hansen’s disease, there are new names for sin that has been created by man today. Adultery is now deemed as indiscretion, homosexuality as an alternative lifestyle, pornography as adult entertainment, lust as affection, and the list goes on.
As a Christian, you must know and have trust that even when the world cannot help us that Jesus can help us! “Whatever you are going through, it may be a lonely battle, you may be isolated but I want to say this; with Jesus, there’s hope! The Bible says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever,” shared Suresh.
Love in Action
Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” 42 As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. 43 And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once, 44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” 45 However, he went out and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the matter, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places; and they came to Him from every direction.
(Mark 1:40-45)
The leper in the Bible was desperate and sought for Jesus to release him from a death sentence in his life. Based on the knowledge he had and the circumstances he was in, when the leper asked Jesus if He would heal him, he didn’t just wonder if Jesus could but instead had faith that He could perform that miracle. When Jesus extended his hand to the leper, it was a touch of love, power, hope, and acceptance! No one else but Jesus would dare touch him.
”We must present out needs to Jesus instead of presenting our needs to everybody else, especially on Twitter and in Facebook,” shared Suresh. The greatest book of love is found in the Bible. “God wants to communicate his love for us,” shared Suresh. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice on the cross for us! Until this very day, He wills to give us direction, to provide, to help, to restore, to repair what is broken in our lives, all because the love He has for us is like no other love.
“If you want to see a victory in your life, you have to know that you need Jesus. If you and I are living our lives apart from Jesus, we better repent today and come back to the Lord. To be a Christian you need Jesus to experience your miracle,” he said. Then again, he shared that if there are those who feel that they can handle their sicknesses or life situations on their own, then you will never receive your miracle and miss out on what God has planned for you. We need Him because a lot of times in life we are helpless just like the leper.
When Jesus touches us, He wants to minister to us; not only our physical needs but also our emotional and social needs. “He loves the unlovable, touches the untouchable, forgives the unforgivable and he feels for us when we’re battling a loss. This is the God that we have. When you and I understand how Jesus operates, you will be able to rest in that,” he said. Jesus knows your heart and knows your need even before you present your need to Him, He just wants you to come to Him and follow Him. Throughout the Bible, Jesus never rejected anyone who needed Him and He will not reject you!
