He makes all things New; We should too!

Live out the life that Christ has poured into us. “In our Church life we tend to serve Jesus through our Church programs whether it be worship or leading our Home groups; we tend to worship Jesus through our activities. I want us to learn the great art of being able to allow Jesus to minister through us after He’s ministered to us. It is quite important that we are engaging in what I consider encounters with God on a regular basis so that we can continually stay updated, and be relevant in our Christian faith” shared Pastor Jim Mclaughlan who heads Enlarge Ministries recently preached at City Revival Church, Subang on the 24th of August. As we get older we need to challenge ourselves to take risky steps of faith into a whole new world, or a new opportunity that God brings us to.

 

 

The Church should be over achieving in our generation and not under achieving. “If we do not take steps of faith to do what God calls us to do, we get settled, we get comfortable in our faith and we stay at the same level” he shared. The understanding of God in our lives needs to constantly grow and transform in this ongoing newness that we are experiencing today; because God is continuously working a good work in our modern day society and God is limitless and is always relevant in our lives.

 

Colossians 1:27-28

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.

 

The ability for a Church to adopt a Christian Christ culture is the number one challenge of the Church in our generation because of what we see and what are impressed by in our world. The biggest challenge of this day is bringing people to the knowledge and understanding of Christ.

 

 

“A relevant Church means I’m fitting in with God’s plan for the world. I’m not just shaping into a fishbowl of believers that are stuck in a rut, going round and round the bowl. There are times where the want to be perfect in Christ that we don’t understand the ability for Christ to flow through our lives to world that needs Him” he shared.

 

James 2:20-24

Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

 

Be a Difference

Many people in our world want to be different by being someone else; they copy looks, the way people talk, and try to copy the way people live. An example Jim shared, was when he was walking down the street one day and he saw a Chinese man with pure blond hair, numerous tattoos and a bunch of ear piercings. “As soon as I saw that I said, “Okay you’re different. I can see that you’re displaying your differences to the world because you want to be different” shared Jim. You are already different when you are in God.

 

 

“We need a Church on the radical front and they have got to know who we believe, the Saviour, and the one living in our lives. Everything else that we were born to, has no relativity to eternity” he shared. We have to allow Jesus to flow through us to help us allow the authority of God to minister through us.

 

 

“As soon as you start to witness for Christ you are going to have a revolution, a revival or a riot because the devil, he doesn’t like it when the Church gets stirred up for the community. He wants you to go to sleep and slumber away your day” shared Jim. God’s heart is to make the Church strong so that it can make its people strong enough to make a difference in this world.
