Malaysian CARE has worked for many years among the vulnerable groups in Malaysia, bringing God’s hope and renewal into lives that were once broken. They have just launched their REAL LIFE series on addiction and spiritual transformation. A highlight of the series is the true life testimony of Sam Lim, formerly an addict who has found victory and a transformed life through Christ. Malaysian Care shares more about the series:
Who would have thought that a quiet and unassuming young man in church was taking drugs to the point of suicide? But Sam had no problems in life, he was just like any other young person. In the next part of Malaysian CARE’s sermon video series we learn what happened, why the biblical story of the Good Samaritan is a game changer and how we could all be involved in our different ways.
Malaysian CARE is proud to release our REAL LIFE series on Youtube along with an accompanying devotional on prisoners and AIDS. Head over to our Church Resources page to preview and download the devotional to continue the discussion with your cell group or use it as a personal study.
A true story of Sam’s journey (an ex addict and current Malaysian CARE staff) with Addiction and Spiritual Transformation, do not miss the chance to ask him questions this Wednesday (21st September 2022) on Facebook Live at 7.30pm. Click this link to take you to the event. Can’t make it on that day? All 3 parts of the series are available on our YouTube channel.
A little bit about the series…
Real Life Episode 1: Getting Hooked, How it all Began!
Sam Lim was a typical teen who went off to college in the big city. He was introduced to drugs by a friend who told him it would improve his work performance. Born into a Christian family he would continue this lifestyle unbeknownst to his pastor and church members. In this video, he opens up about his struggle and gives us a glimpse into the invincible world of drug addiction, mental health and spiritual journey. Link to: https://youtu.be/0wQGVV9sLU8
Real Life Episode 2: Getting Help, Serving in Prison Ministry & Living a Transformed Life
Working with hardcore addicts is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is an inconvenient job and one easily misunderstood by society. Plus the chances of relapse are high – that is when those who journey with them get disappointed over their failure to help. In this video, we hear what the bible has to say about this and how our volunteers went through their own moments of being the ‘Good Samaritan’. Link to: https://youtu.be/BsNsqdcuFF4
Real Life Episode 3: What Can You Do? Help those affected by crime and drug addiction
For 40 years, Malaysian CARE’s prison ministry has been making a difference in the lives of prisoners and those recently released. Whether you have a few hours or a day, find out the many ways that you can get involved. Link to: https://youtu.be/zeaHcsrmVjE
