Pastor Clarance Shashi recently preached at C3 Subang on the 6th of April 2014 about the changes that happened in life because of what was accomplished at the cross. “You don’t want to celebrate Easter and Good Friday every year and yet go through life missing the point. God didn’t send Jesus to the cross and resurrect Him on the third day just so that we can have another “Christian event” on our Christian calendar. Instead Jesus went to the cross so that we can have a new life!” he shared. Everything that Jesus achieved at the cross was meant to drastically transform how we do life because it is meant to change us on the inside as well as on the outside. Due to what happened at the cross, there is now nothing that hinders us from being able to stand in God’s presence and nothing that hinders God from hearing or answering our prayers. “That is a powerful reality and if you believe that then that should change everything about how your spiritual life operates, how you pray, how you walk with God. Everything your life should change,” he shared.
Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Also through Him, we have obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, 4 endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. 5 This hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:1-5)
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:5-6)
9 And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:9-10)
The scriptures above refers to how Jesus redeemed us to God and how we have been redeemed through blood. In this case, He had not only dealt with our sins, but He also dealt with our sicknesses and diseases. “What Jesus did, shifted us positionally in the eyes of God” shared Clarance. He then asked everyone, “What does it mean to you today and how does it translate into your daily lives?” With that Clarance began to explain through a story in the Old Testament. According to the Old Testament, there were two offices that were ordained by God in the Old Testament by God for His people and that was the office of the priest and the office of the King. The priest was to minister to God (he represented the people to God and represented God to the people) while the King was to rule the land and have authority on the earth (he was to advance the kingdom of God on the earth). “When the King wanted direction he would have to go to the priest and the priest would then have to go into the presence of God and would bless his plans,” shared Clarance. This shows us that the priest had favour before God while the King had authority in the land.
The Favour of God gives our Prayer Life Power!
Now the scripture above in Revelations 1:5-6, shows us the shift that has taken place; we could now go into the presence of God, because each of us has been made into Kings and Priests! “Because of what Jesus did, today these two offices have been merged and has been bestowed upon us. In other words, we enjoy the favour with God and have the authority of a King to reign on the earth. So because of what Jesus did you and I should function in this dual capacity office,” said Clarance. This is what was meant, to why we can now go into the presence of God without fear, because now God’s ears are open to us and we can pray as well as intercede without any barriers. “We do not have to bring a sacrifice to our sins anymore because Jesus Christ became that perfect sacrifice. All our sins were placed upon Him and He forever made perfect all of us,” he said. We are people of authority on the earth.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” (Genesis 1:26)
Clarance shared that we need not be surprised about this because this was God’s original plan on the earth when God created Adam and Eve as cited in Genesis 1:26. However, because Adam and Eve allowed the serpent to tell them what to do, they lost all authority. It was stolen by the devil. Children of God, today you know that, that authority has been released upon you once more through the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Do not submit to the devil anymore! “Now we have been restored to the rightful place of authority in the land,” he said. When Jesus came to earth He also displayed how we should walk with God. To understand this, read further about the ways of Jesus in the Bible, about how He functioned as a priest, about how He could go into the presence of God and intercede to His people and about how he had intimacy and favour with God. Simultaneously, when Jesus faced sicknesses and diseases, when He faced storms, and demons, he functioned as a King and dealt with them with authority! And they all fled with His word and obeyed because of the authority Jesus had on His life.
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. (James4:7-8)
