Pastor Peter Toganivalu, youth pastor of Hillsong Church in Australia, shared a message of the worst break-up in human history. That is between men and God.

And unlike the typical reason for break-up, this was not mutual. In fact, men and God did not want to separate. But sin came in and caused an eternal chasm (Isaiah 59:2).

But your iniquities have separated you from your God;

And your sins have hidden His face from you,

So that He will not hear.

(Isaiah 59:2)

Hence, since the first Adam, death reigned to the whole mankind (Romans 5:14-15). Yet, God did not leave us alone but prepared a way for humankind to return to Him.

Therefore, as through one man’s (Adam) offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s (Jesus) righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. (Romans 5:18)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

“Many people paint the picture of us needing to fix ourselves before getting to God. But it is when we mess up, His Grace moves and calls out to us,” he said. Despite knowing that Adam sinned, God walked towards the mess (Genesis 3:8).

He continued emphasizing how God created all humans in His image (Genesis 1:27). This explains why we are called to reflect His goodness!

“God gave us this mirror (to reflect Him). But we dropped and shattered it into a million pieces! Ever since then, humans have been trying to pick up these pieces and reflect who they are meant to be,” he added.

We picked up these pieces from what the media says, what our friends think or what religion seems to tell us. But the only person qualified to tell us our identity is our Creator, our God the Father who created us.

And God came to earth in the person of Jesus Christ (John 14:6-7).

Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you now Him and have seen Him” (John 14:6-7).

Jesus Christ is the exact mirror representation of God, the Father, in Heaven! To know who God intended us to be is to look at Jesus Christ.

Pastor Peter Toganivalu ended by sharing how the enemy is isolating the young people, through the pressure of wanting to look ‘perfect’.

“But we have a God who doesn’t just heal you emotionally and physically. He restores you back to a community, a place of belonging,” he said.

The night concluded with a powerful prayer of salvation, as the crowd lifted their hands unto Jesus Christ.

An Australian Christian music and praise worship group from Sydney, we look forward to Hillsong Young & Free’s next tour to Malaysia!
