Psalm 53 – God will not be fooled
(Written by Kenneth Chan)
Fools who deny God’s existence do not fool anyone except themselves. Their denial is proof enough of His existence. God is clearly revealed in all of His Creation through her Design and Government. Yet, fools defy to be exempt from submission to His rule and authority. Romans 1:21a testify to this truth. Thus, God labelled them as fools.
Fools live in the arrogance of their godlessness, and in oblivion of the dreadful consequences of their wickedness. Thinking they rid themselves of God, they live as such, but God’s Omniscience searches man’s innermost conscience, He knows and remembers their every thought and deed. He will judge them according to His perfect righteousness – eternal condemnation will be the fool’s endgame.
The only escape from such a terrible end is repentance from denial and unbelief. God is merciful to await the return of foolish rebels to their rightful relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, whose sacrificial death on the cross satisfy the wrath of God against sin, to reconcile sinners with a holy God. God is patient, even to those who mock Him, only so, some may repent. Great blessings of joy and peace awaits those that God forgives and restores – 1 John 1:9.
Let’s Read Psalm 53
For the director of music. According to mahalath. A maskil of David.
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
there is no one who does good.
2 God looks down from heaven
on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.
3 Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.
4 Do all these evildoers know nothing?
They devour my people as though eating bread;
they never call on God.
5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
where there was nothing to dread.
God scattered the bones of those who attacked you;
you put them to shame, for God despised them.
6 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When God restores his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
Let’s Pray,
Heavenly Father, Indeed, Your ways are not ours, otherwise, all humanity will be hopelessly condemned. We thank You for a pardon for sin found in the Lord Jesus Christ, whom You raised to life from death on the cross. May Your patient love for fools save them as they believe this. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
