Psalm 3 – Deliver me, my God!
(Meditation written by Li Sze Chow)
Psalm 3 was written by David when he was running for his life from his rebellious son Absalom and his armies. When your circumstances go against you, do you blame God?
David reminds us that even when everything seems to go wrong, God is still for us. David cried out to the Lord, and the Lord heard him. The assurance of answered prayer brought him peace. So, he could sleep well knowing that God is in control. He knew that God would deliver him.
Psalm 3
A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.
1 Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.”
3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
4 I call out to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain.
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
6 I will not fear though tens of thousands
assail me on every side.
7 Arise, Lord!
Deliver me, my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
Let’s pray,
Dear Lord, in this difficult time of the Covid-19 pandemic, we ask Your protection upon our families. Give us faith just like David, who confidently trusting God even when we are surrounded by thousands of viruses. We will not fear because the Lord is our shields. Grant us peace and assurance that God is in control. Surely, You will deliver those who cry out to you. Give us good sleep and a strong immune system for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen!
