Psalm 15 – Integrity

(Written by Stephen Lew)

Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. It is what everyone should strive for, but it seems people nowadays don’t have as much of it as they should. There is a lack of kindness, honesty, responsibility, and trustworthiness. The world is getting so competitive that some people will lie, cheat, and bribe to get what they want. Even prominent people who society holds up as models of integrity often fall far short. We hear constant allegations of corrupt practices in the political arena and public services.

There are many examples in Scripture of people who showed exemplary integrity. Daniel and his three friends were men of uncompromising integrity even during the most difficult circumstances. Job was described as “blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil” (Job 1:1). Jesus commended Nathanael as an Israelite “in whom there is no deceit” (John 1:47).

In Psalm 15, King David says a man of integrity will display blameless walk, righteous deeds, and truthful speech. He does the right thing in every situation, whether it is convenient or not. We are called to reflect the integrity of Christ Himself. If we all live out our integrity, we would set an example for others to follow.

Let’s Read Psalm 15

Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
    Who may live on your holy mountain?

The one whose walk is blameless,
    who does what is righteous,
    who speaks the truth from their heart;

whose tongue utters no slander,
    who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;

who despises a vile person
    but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
    and does not change their mind;

who lends money to the poor without interest;
    who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
Whoever does these things will never be shaken.

Let’s Pray,

Heavenly Father, help us to walk with integrity, truthfulness, humility, and grace, and that in Your strength, we may speak the truth in love and bring forth works of righteousness for Your name’s sake. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
